The space The Homestead is incredibly comfortable and adaptive to your needs - a warm haven after a long day of bush walking adventures, or a cozy place to escape and catch up on some reading. Wherever you are, you’ll be rewarded with the sound of soft waves in the background, lapping at the island’s stunning granite coast. The Homestead has 4 bedrooms; two rooms with king size beds, one with a king bed and single size-bunk bed, and one room with two single size-bunk beds. King beds can be split into singles if desired. The house sleeps 8 persons very comfortably. The kitchen is fully-equipped with cooking essentials, pots and pans, coffee plunger, Moka pot, stovetop and electric kettle, toaster, dishes, cutlery, and more. All linen, towels, toilet paper, soap, washing up liquid, scrubs and hand sanitiser is provided during your stay. There is a large collection of books to enjoy while here, as well a television and DVD’s. Three Hummock Island is extremely remote. The Homestead is equipped with Starlink internet service to keep you in-touch with the rest of the world if you desire. Guests bring all their own food, clothing, medication and supplies with them to the island. All power is provided through renewable sources such as wind and solar. We ask that you not bring high energy use appliances to the island like hair dryers or straighteners. All water is provided through rain water tanks and a nearby spring. We politely ask that you enjoy these resources but refrain from overindulging. All guests are asked to take their rubbish with them. Guest access The Homestead is exclusively yours while you are here. With sweeping views of the ocean and just a short stroll from the beach, it is embodiment of a remote island retreat. Originally built in 1910, the Homestead is situated against a group of mighty trees, overlooking an open field grazed by kangaroos and cape barren geese. Other things to note What To Bring: - Any important personal items including medication - Comfortable walking shoes and good socks - A wind and waterproof coat (and waterproof pants if you plan on doing extended walks) - Thermals and a beanie for colder months - Slippers for wearing indoors - Sunscreen and hat for warmer months - Insect repellent for warmer months - Gaiters and/or long pants for bushwalking - Binoculars or a telephoto lens for wildlife enthusiasts - Swimsuit - Torch Three Hummock Island is a State Reserve. Strictly no dogs and drones are permitted. Fuel stove only. Please Note: From mid-January to mid-March “March Flies” can be prevalent on the island. DEET or insect repellent is recommended.
