Every rainy season we plant additional fruit trees as well as indigenous trees to expand the diversity of the food forest. Other things to note The nearest airport to Marbella is Guanacaste Airport (LIR) | Daniel Oduber Quiros Airport. It is about 89 km drive (approximately 1.5 hour drive). The town of Marbella is rural and remote area of the Guanacaste Province and you will definitely get to experience the Costa Rica culture here. Tamarindo is about 40 minutes north and Guionnes/Nosara is about 30 minutes south. Once you turn into the gated development, the roads are unpaved/dirt roads to reach the house. Even though our development roads are in very good condition, a 4WD or SUV is highly recommended, especially if you plan to drive further south to Nosara, etc. Road conditions may vary due to current and past weather events, so our recommendation is to have a AWD or 4WD when traveling to our home and throughout Costa Rica. Marbella is located on the North Pacific Coast in a quiet, rural jungle/surf beach community. You can experience a variety of wildlife to include Howler Monkeys, many birds, iguanas and other indigenous animals. Insects are also part of the wildlife here and our best advice is to make sure screens are always closed to limit them from entering the house, especially when it gets dark out and the lights are on. There are a variety of activities one can participate in, such as, charter fishing excursions, ATV tours or rentals, snorkeling tours, yoga, and horseback riding. Marbella Beach has one of the best breaks in all of Costa Rica if you surf and we definitely recommend checking out Tiki Hut for great food, drinks and watching the amazing sunsets.
