Description
Relax at this unique Heritage house. This will be your home away from home. Please treat it with care. The space Coho Lodge is uniquely located in Westholme on the banks of the River Chemainus. Over 125 years old, the Lodge has been re-designed as a fishing lodge and family retreat. In the summer, there is a beautiful wrap-around colonial-style verandah and swimming in the river off a sandy beach at the bottom of the garden and off an old railway bridge swing. Mature trees in the garden where bald eagles perch provide shade for games in the garden – from croquet to bocce. A barbecue on the verandah and outside dinner table make for a wonderful summer evening together. In the fall, winter and spring, the Lodge is a wonderful launch pad for fishing (and hunting) and exploring the Chemainus river (chum and coho salmon, steelhead and cut-throat trout) and other locals rivers (the Cowichan and Koksilah) and lakes (Fuller and Chemainus). Or simply for a family wanting a cozy time together with wood-burners and beautifully decorated interior for company. Total privacy on this 2 acre riverside retreat offers a peaceful and beautiful place to stay for family and friends. It sleeps up to 8. This historical home has been a haven for families since the 19th century. Enjoy the sound of silence each morning. In 10 minutes you could be on the ferry to Salt Spring Island or in a boutique coffee bar on Chemainus High Street, exploring the gallery of outdoor murals throughout this seaside town, walking your dog to the estuary or finding remote swimming holes in the canyon upstream, attending a show at Chemainus Playhouse, playing golf at Mountain Brenton (one of Vancouver Island’s premier golf courses), going fishing on a Salish Sea charter at Crofton, or dropping your children off at Camp Qwanoes. There is so much to explore from Coho Lodge. We often describe Vancouver Island as ‘the playground of the Gods’. This is our family’s slice of heaven. Come and play.
