STR Registration#: H571994210 The space Originally constructed 1967, this log and beam structure was one of the first cabins built on Big White Mountain. The home was renovated to include modern conveniences (internet, heated floors, dishwasher) while preserving the historical features of this unique property including antlers gifted to our family by Doug Mervyn (co-founder of Big White), a rock fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and hand-peeled tamarack logs. This stand-alone cabin is comprised of two separate apartments (no internal access), and is ideal for a family with teenagers, an extended family, two families who like to vacation together, or a family traveling with a nanny. It is IDEAL during COVID when families may want to enjoy time together outdoors but have their own separate quarters. Each apartment is self sufficient with its own entrance, kitchen, living room/dining room, fireplace, sleeping spaces, bathroom, and laundry facilities. Skis, boards and bikes can be stored securely in boot rooms. Upper apartment has a bedroom (queen) and an open loft (2 queen beds), and the lower apartment has two bedrooms (one with a queen and one with a double bed). Turn on the flood lights and watch the snow falling on the trees from the Master bedroom as you drift off to sleep; climb up the ladder to the cozy loft (kids love it with its tree house appeal); serve up drinks and appies at the bar, while you watch the kids play outside; watch sports events or play games in the open concept living space, gather around the fireplace in the unique sunken seating area and roast marshmallows; soak in the claw foot tub while watching the snow fall outside; cook a turkey dinner in the full sized oven or make a quick and easy dinner in the slow cooker and hit the slopes. The property is large, sloped, and perfect for play ... gather around the outdoor fire pit at the end of the day and make s'mores and enjoy a hot toddy under the stars; build a sled track from the top of the property to the bottom and rip down the hill; strap on some snow shoes and hike through the trees. We are minutes from the village ....walk approximately 200 metres from the property down the hill to the village centre to enjoy the restaurants, nightlife, events, and to buy groceries, ski gear, lift tickets, rentals, and souvenirs. We have two parking spaces in the road-side parking above the cabin and provide a cargo sled in the winter to transport luggage from the road side parking to the cabin (approximately 250 feet down a slope). The cabin is ski-in ...ski directly to the property from Highway 33 (Bullet chair) down the CAT track that runs behind the firehall and Greystoke apartments to the bottom of the property. To get to the lifts requires a bit of walking ...put on your skis at the cabin, ski down to the CAT track, and walk 25 metres up a hill to the slopes or ski down to Wolverine and walk approximately 100 steps to the slopes. Short Term Rental Registration #: H571994210 Guest access We will send you directions and door codes a few days prior to your arrival and are always available to respond to any questions you might have. There are snowshoes, shovels, and a few sleds available to use. Please ensure you put them back undercover after use otherwise we will not find them until after the spring melt. We provide linens, towels, toilet paper, hand and body wash, laundry soap, and paper towels, and cleaning supplies. The kitchens in the cabin are well equipped with slow cookers, coffee makers, and roasting pans in each apartment. Other than a few personal items which are stored in locked cabinets, guests are welcome to access the entire property. Please be respectful of our neighbours. Quiet time is 10pm - 7am. Other things to note We share the road side parking (which is plowed regularly) with our neighbours and there are two spaces available for our cabin. If it is snowing during your stay, please move your vehicles every day or two to a different spot so the plow can maintain the entire area, ensuring that there is adequate parking for everyone. There is a security camera mounted over the exterior staircase, outside of the cabin. Do not play under the roofs, the snow can unload unexpectedly or icicles can fall. The path from the road, stairs and entrance may be snowy and/or slippery - we provide shovels and de-icer for guests to use. Please ensure blankets or other items do not fall on baseboards (this is #1 cause of fires at Big White). We welcome families with children of all ages. Two generations of children in our family have grown up in this cabin. The cabin however, has features which may be challenging for young children (ladder-access loft in upper suite, furniture near railings in loft, sunken seating around the fireplace in lower suite, cleaning products stored under sinks, blinds with cords, electrical outlets). Please feel free to ask us questions so you can determine if the cabin is suitable for your family. Our cabin has been identified as "excellent" in terms of ski in and "moderate" in terms of ski out by a professional assessment company. Routes in and out of the cabin vary with different levels of snow. Trails can be challenging for "never-ever" and novice skiers/boarders.
