Description
Welcome to my cozy, sunny Paris-region flat named after my favorite flowers which surge in spring symbolizing newness and joy as much as remembrance and peace. Furnished with a mix of mod and Mid Century flair, there are dazzling views of the Marne Valley from the salon and balcony. Village shops, supermarkets, parks, patisseries, gardens and jogging strips are within 5-10 minutes walk. Saint-Lazare Paris is 45-50 minutes away: a 6 minute bus ride (or 20 min walk) then 7 stops (22 mins) on RER E The space My light-filled flat is on the 4th floor, with no lift. The small residence is attractive and peaceful, set in lovely private grounds and surrounded by venerable old trees. I have an F2, meaning a bedroom, lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. In my case, the bathroom and loo are also separate. I also have a small laundry with a fridge, washing machine, cleaning equipment and a larder. The apartment is north-south facing, with light streaming in all around. The views from my balcony are stunning. Sleep-wise, there is a very comfortable double bed in the bedroom. I have two dining areas: The kitchen has a table and two chairs, and the living room, a table and 3 chairs. One is an office chair, so the space also doubles as an office by day. In the entry and connecting hallway, there are 3 cupboards. 1 is closed and contains my affairs. Another has my office stuff, but I shall leave it open, as there are also books (and dictionaries) in English and French that you can access. The other cupboard, bar bed linen, is for guests. There is plenty of space. The entire hanging area, 3 drawers or alcove shelves, and a shoe hanger. Guest access MAIN ACCESS The property has a surrounding fence. I will give you the access code to use until you have your keys and fob. MAIN ENTRY You will call me and I will open it remotely. KEY SAFE I have a key safe outside my apartment, for which you will have the code. The key inside is for the main door. YOUR SET OF KEYS Once inside, you will access your set of keys for the stay from the electricity cupboard to your left. Please return the other key immediately to the key safe, making sure to remuddle the code! Your keys include: 1. The main key – the long one. 2. A FOB for entry to the main gate, and for the main digital display entry on the ground floor. 3. A key to descend to the cellar/the cave to dispose of garbage and recycling (entry on ground floor immediately inside the main door). The key is the jagged-edged one. 4. A spare key to the main ground floor entry, just in case! Other things to note TRANSPORT GETTING HERE: The apartment is in Gagny, 12km/8 miles east of Paris. Gagny is on Line E of the RER Greater Paris train network, direction CHELLES. Gagny station is 6 RER stops from Magenta station (adjacent to Gare du Nord) or 7 stops from Haussmann Saint-Lazare. After taking the RER, from the station, take bus 602 towards 'Hôpital de Montfermeil'. Ride four stops and alight at the stop called Cimitiere, and walk 5 minutes to my place. Or, you can walk the 15-20 minutes back up the hill, which I mostly do. Please use one of the following trip planners for your whole journey, either the website or the app: ratp /transilien/ iledefrance-mobilites GETTING TO PARIS Going to Paris from Gagny: The bus stop, a 3-minute walk from my place, to take the bus to Gagny station, is called GAY. It's located on Allée de Gay. There are 4 stops to the station. It ties in with the train departures and arrivals. You can also walk to the station, 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace. Take the RER E direction Nanterre – La Folie. (Note this line now continues to the Bois de Boulogne, for an outing in one of Paris's urban forests.) ALTERNATIVE TRIP TO-FROM LE RAINCY Note: I am on a plateau between Gagny and Le Raincy, so you can also commute from the latter. Le Raincy is one train stop before Gagny, so 5 stops from Gare du Nord/Magenta and 6 from Saint-Lazare. It's a 20-25 minute walk to or from Le Raincy from my place. For the return journey, I sometimes do this. Then, take bus 602 from the Gare de Raincy, direction Hôpital de Montfermeil. Get off at the 3rd stop, ‘Le Plateau', at the roundabout, Le Rond Point de Montfermeil. Here, there's a Carrefour City supermarket, a boulangerie, a pharmacy, a Nicolas wine shop, a fromagerie, an Italian deli, a spectacles store, a flower shop, etc. It's then a 10-minute walk to my place, on the flat! The walk down to Le Raincy station is lovely. Along delightful avenues with lovely 'demeures' - grand bourgeois dwellings – in this very established, fancy suburb.
