Direct access to South West Coast Path. 10 minutes walk to picturesque port of Brixham with numerous independent shops, cafes, seafish specialists and bars. 10 minutes walk to beauty and tranquility of Berry Head Nature Reserve. The space This detached Victorian house was built around 1880 by John Upham who was the owner of the famous Upham Shipbulding Yard in Brixham. The 1901 census tells us that the Upham family were still living here with their two children and housemaid, Martha, who resided in the attic. The former Coach House now provides an annexe which is occupied by the host's family members. Martha's Attic comprises what used to be two attic rooms on the top floor of the house. These have been converted to provide a small bathroom and kitchenette in addition to a sitting room and bedroom. Guests share the front door, entrance and first staircase with the hosts. Your private accommodation is through a locked door on the landing. This leads to a sunny entrance hall with coat hooks, bookcase and chair (ideal for a quiet read, breakfast with a view or watching the sunset) and a steep staircase. At the top of the stairs is a bedroom with washbasin and double bed, a bathroom with toilet and bath (hand-held shower over bath), a sitting room with a dining table and a small kitchenette with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, airfryer and microwave. Please note that, being an attic space, there are a few places where head height is restricted. Guest access Guests share the driveway, entrance and first staircase with the hosts. They have sole use of the attic rooms and staircase. Other things to note Being at the top of an old house with cranky Victorian plumbing, there is no shower in Martha's Attic due to the low water pressure; it can take some time for the hot water to travel from the water tank in the basemaent all the way up to the attic. You will be able to enjoy a lovely hot bath (and wash up if you so wish!) but please be patient while the water runs! Optional Continental Breakfast Tray available upon request £10 per person Order by 8pm the previous evening Bedding for the sofa bed is in the wicker hamper in the corner of the bedroom. The sheet will already be on the sofa bed and is changed between each booking.
