Description
Take the winding road through majestic karri forests to our historical cottage, Grandad’s Farmhouse. Originally owned by our beloved Grandad Gib and Grannie Betty, the cottage looks out on green paddocks where cows chew contentedly amongst walnut trees. The warmth of the morning sun invites slow mornings, breakfast cook ups and sleep ins. After a day exploring walking trails and wineries, relax by the wood fire with a glass of local wine, as you enjoy the serenity. The space Our property is a lovingly restored historic house and as such it is unsuitable for children. It was built around the 1920’s by Northcliffe's pioneer settlers. It was previously the home of the host’s Scottish grandparents who maintained the property as a working 100 year old dairy farm. Although it has been modernised over the years, we believe we have captured a moment in time. As we endeavour to ensure our properties are more sustainable, we have used recycled, repurposed and vintage furniture where possible. On farm water source supplies the home and solar energy is used where possible. Whilst the house presents as nanna chic , it has modern, cosy comforts like air conditioning, comfortable beds and electric blankets. This is the perfect couple’s retreat as it is extremely private and restful. A mere 2 k’s from the town centre, it is ideally located for the bibilbum track, farm walks, bird watching, bat hideouts and nature musings. Looking out into lush green paddocks, this house has a WFH space which looks out onto walnut trees and a dam, ideal for the imagination of writers. It is the perfect rest stop as it is midway to the Great Southern region. Grandads’s is only two hours to Denmark, Albany Augusta or Margaret river or a longer jaunt to Esperance. Locally, Northcliffe is the town time forgot with a great historical museum and a new cafe, Gather and Graze, perfect for coffee and lunch. Or try Naughty noodle bar for something home cooked and welcoming. We are a short tourist drive to Pemberton if you prefer, for lunch or dinner. If time permits, a must see are the rugged coastlines in Windy Harbour where the original settlers built their holiday shacks. Stay for a weekend or a while, this house is perfect for relaxing, walking and a beautiful escape. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the whole house. If there are two guests, please note the main bedroom near the fire will be made. If other arrangements are required, please advise. Other things to note In booking this stay, it means that you have agreed fully with the House Rules. Please enjoy your stay. Registration Details STRA6262P9VRTMTF
