This 2nd floor bedroom with A full size bed and a twin day bed. With tall south or west facing windows it is quite bright from late morning to mid evening. This room faces the busy hospital campus and overlooks city bus stop. Amenities include a, mini-fridge, large closet, desk, alarm clock, pitcher and glassware for water. We recommend 2 guests in this room. It is possible to have 3 people in this room. The space After a 2 year hosting break, I have recently moved into a different slightly smaller home. Still in the process of unpacking and setting up Aunties rest. Most things are available, but in a bit of a slimmed down form and some things are in process. below is the usual description. This century-old, two story house, conveniently located near everything in Urbana, is an ideal spot for medical travelers or visitors to the University of Illinois campus. The unique older home is situated near the main campus of Carle Hospital. Several bus routes are easily accessible, with one stop right at the end of the front walk and another just two blocks away. This area is bustling with hospital-related and local foot and vehicle traffic. Things to note; 1) (especially light sleepers) The house is located across the street from a level one trauma center that operates a helipad and a busy emergency room. As a result, there may be noise from helicopters and ambulances at all hours, as well as bus noise from 7 am to midnight. 2) if stairs are difficult for you Aunties Rest will not be the best fit. The flight to the second floor is a bit steep. 3) For drivers, at this time there is limited free on street parking on the west side of the house. 4) This is a allergen minimal household we try to keep animals, dust, smoke, perfumes and scents to a minimum in common areas. This property is 100% non-smoking. and Substance free. This includes the grounds. Smoking on the property can result in a fee of $100 for smoke mitigation and cleaning. 5) Lost keys, taking towels, taking Linens will result in a $30 per incident charge Guest access The basement and garage are off-limits to guests, but the rest of the common areas are open for your use. Auntie's Rest features a well-equipped home kitchen, dining room, and a main floor living and family room. Perishable items should be stored in the mini fridge provided in your room, while non-perishables can be stored in the Kitchen in the space allocated for your room. All cooking should take place in the kitchen, dining area, or on the grill. Auntie's Rest also includes a front porch and a backyard for outdoor activities. Complimentary coffee, tea, and a coffee maker are available. Snacks can be found on the bakers rack and on the dining room table. Usually there is local fruit and some baked treats. Bicycles are available for guests to borrow, making it convenient to explore the surrounding area. The backyard is equipped with a grill, a fire pit, and lawn furniture, making it ideal for outdoor cooking or a cozy evening gathering. Outdoor seating is also available on the front porch, providing ample space for relaxation or socializing. Your guests are welcome to use the porch or backyard when you are present. However, during quiet hours, friends should retire to their own accommodations. During your stay The primary way guests should contact me is via text through the Airbnb app. I am generally present at check-in and am available through the app to answer any questions. I do have a pretty busy life and I come and go throughout the day or weekend. I do live full time on the property, I have my own space on site. I am in and out a lot. Other things to note This house is an old house that has been re arranged to suit modern conveniences sort of kind of way. Outlets and light switches are in odd places. If you cant figure out something or If anything breaks or goes wrong, tell Jes right away using the Airbnb app and we will get it taken care of. Please remember that bathrooms and kitchen are always shared. Clean up after yourself in Kitchen and bathrooms before going on to other activities. We have one full bathroom and one half bathroom for we all share. It takes approximately 45 seconds for the water to heat up in any tap. Please make sure everyone gets a turn in the shower by signing up for times on the marker board in the hallway. Be sure to use the drain cover to filter grey water, and ensure the shower curtain has the white liner inside the tub to prevent water from splattering onto the bathroom floor. Terry bath rugs are available in the main bathroom to absorb excess water when you exit the tub. Your set of bath and hand towels are provided in your room. Washcloths are available in the bathrooms. The bath mats are stored over the toilet in the wood rack as are washcloths. Used towels, rugs, wash cloths should be placed in the laundry basket in your room or the hallway. We provide both toilet paper and wipes, but please only flush toilet paper. There is a waste can beside the toilet for wipes. Please refrain from bringing in additional mattresses, electric blankets, bedding or more than one personal pillow. Extra bedding and towels are available upon request. Additionally, we have some basic personal care items on hand for your convenience. If you require anything beyond the essentials, you can find an "Honesty Basket" in the upstairs hall near the marker board, where you can donate $1-$3 for items. Again Allergen Minimal reminder-Please use any scented personal products in your room with the door shut and refrain from using incense, scented candles or air fresheners. If possible cover the vent before using personal scents and leave it covered while they initially evaporate.
