Fresh air, open space, heated beds! Heartwood Mendocino is a beautiful and private 40 acre redwood studded property with sunny meadows and direct access to world class hike and bike trails in the thousands of acres of Jackson State Forest which completely surrounds us.  We are 7 minutes from downtown Mendocino which lifts us out of the fog. A perfect place for your year round escape to nature.  This unique place has a style all its own. We love to host special events and weddings, reach out! The space You will have out newest most private and most luxurious cabin with all of the details you can imagine for a super glamp experience. Cabin 8 is extra large with a phenomenal full wall forest view window. The cabin is built with a solid metal roof, fine craftsmanship details, wooden floors, solid door and a private picnic area.   This cabin in outfitted with a huge king size bed with heated mattress, yummy linens and pillows and a down comforter. You'll be welcomed to your cabin with all of the the  essential amenities including towels, lighting, water bottle and closet area. Bring your toiletries and personal items. A hand made redwood picnic table sits just outside your cabin. The nearby heated bath house has amazing showers and restrooms, and a common room. The shared outdoor kitchen area  has all you will  need for the ultimate camp cook set up.  This is a luxury "camping" experience like no other. You will not believe this place… wait until you experience the redwood tree shower! Cabin 8 has a king bed and sleeps two, unless your infant or toddler wants to cuddle in with you! Guest access We are 4.5 miles up Little Lake Road. (GPS might try to send you up Caspar Little Lake which will get you here eventually, but will be a bit confusing so I suggest following my directions). Head east up Little Lake from the stop light on Hwy. 1 in Mendocino. Drive 4.5 miles passing the school at one mile, and the CalFire station at about 4 miles. Chug along even though you feel like you might be lost, and go down and through a few turns passing Outlaw Springs Road on your right.  As you climb to the crest of the hill you are getting close. You will drop down into a couple more turns and see the street numbers 40500 and a Heartwood Mendocino sign on your left at a redwood fence. Go in that opening and stay to your right. You will pass slowly by Ellie's Farmhouse. Don't park there!  Drive past that house and you'll arrive at the parking area and will see the common room and bath house, the outdoor kitchen and the tent cabins. Park in the designated area and walk around the common room and bath house to your cabin on the far side which has a copper colored roof and is the furthest one at the forest edge on the upper part of the gentle slope. Your cabin #8 is marked with your name on a little door tag. Let yourself in (no key required), get comfortable, and explore!  Other things to note The outdoor camp kitchen is set with barbecues, a sink and work tables. Huge dining tables are available for your use here too. We provide basic camp cooking and dining equipment. Bring your own BBQ briquettes and starter fluid. We are in the giant redwoods with sunny meadows, and only minutes from downtown Mendocino with the beaches, restaurants and shops. Hike and bike trails are easily accessible directly from our property. We welcome you! Ummm, did we mention the outdoor stump shower? It's amazing. Be respectful of the place. Take care of yourself. No fireworks or explosives allowed here. 3 Please enjoy our fresh delicious tap water and do not bring single use plastic water bottles here! Our reservation calendars are on a rolling open schedule booking three months out from the current date. (Other than weddings and events which can block weekends further out, contact us!) We book up pretty quickly in the summer and fall so we recommend that you set yourself a reminder alert about three months ahead of when you’d like to come and book your stay then.
