It sits apart from main home. The views of the town and river are fabulous. Stroll to the river walk, downtown shopping, restaurants, pubs, micro breweries. Beach access is 20 minutes away. Goonie lover? Two blocks away is the old jail that was featured in the movie! NO SMOKING , NO PETS . Home stay permit HSL19-13 The Great Room is the hub and has WiFi, T.V., Roku ( set up to stream from your account), games and books for your enjoyment . The kitchenette features a refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave and toaster oven. There is an induction hotplate and pots and pans should you choose to eat in. The colorful Fiesta Ware dishes add a bit of eclectic fun to the decor. Ceiling fans in Great Room and bedroom help keep the areas cool. Plus the Mitsubishi split air conditioner aids during those hot days. There are thermostat heaters in all rooms for comfort. For those who like open windows, the breezes keep everything inside very fresh. Every piece of furniture was selected especially for this apartment, from the broom and dustpan to the bedding, pillows and towels. The walls are a venue for my paintings so I hope your senses enjoy the experience! Trying to keep the apartment free of pet dander for those who have allergies, pets will not be allowed. NO SMOKING. ALL AREAS OF THE MAIN HOUSE ARE PRIVATE. Thank you for respecting that. All areas of the main house are private. This includes the front porch area. Please ask host about use of the BBQ. I will generally be home during your stay. City of Astoria requires hosts to stay on premises. Our home is next and below to the apartment. Red House Roost sits apart from the main house and "roosts" above the city. Everything downtown is an easy walk eliminating the frustration of town parking. The Flavel House and Goonie Jail are only two blocks straight down the street. Our area is pretty private because we live on a dead end. There are only two other houses on our block making traffic very minimal. Our main house is 122 years old and one of the many historic homes in Astoria, so if you like old homes, explore the area. There are several coffee houses and restaurants within easy walking distance. One of the iconic places to visit is the Columbia Theater where upstairs adults can enjoy beer, wine, pizza and Boga Burgers while watching the featured movie. Another iconic place is the Liberty Theater that hosts concerts and events. Both are only blocks away. Walking routes are so easy from Red House Roost. Just head down the street and within two blocks you are at the Oregon Film Museum and the Flavel House Museum. One more block and you are in the downtown area. The trolley stops four blocks from Red House Roost and services the waterfront. Be sure to ride it to the end to 39th Street pier. There the former Bumble Bee Tuna cannery now houses Rogue Ale Public House and The Coffee Girl- which actually used to serve coffee to the cannery workers. And be sure to walk through the Bumble Bee museum. The Bus Transit Center is seven blocks away. The capacity for is two only. Not suitable for infants/children.
