Description

Reconnect with nature on this memorable getaway Dating back to 1163, we are renovating our watermill on the Couesnon River (which flows into the bay of Mont Saint Michel). Our Pigsty cottage overlooking the river is located in the grounds of our mill, We are in rural Brittany in the heart of the agricultural community. The sound of running water and wildlife makes it a place to relax and enjoy nature, like the kingfisher or salamander if they are there! The space The sound of running water and wildlife gives a location in which to unwind and take in nature, such as the kingfisher or Salamander should they be about! Giving you all the serenity needed for a restful stay, combined with easy access to plenty of holiday activities and tourist attractions Recently refurbished with reclaimed and natural materials, this quirky building has charm and character., the Pigsty is ideal for your self catering holiday. It has an open plan kitchen, dining and living space. The kitchen has a gas hob, combination microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, with a drying area. The living space has a small dining table, good wifi, TV with freesat (uk tv), Amazon prime video (uk and French) and prime music, two sofas and a gas heater. The bedroom offers a super king size bed,, with adjoining bathroom, shower and heater. Bedding and towels will be supplied and changed weekly. Outside space includes off road parking, your own private garden area, with seating and BBQ. You also have access to most of the Watermill grounds and river bank to immerse yourself in the environment and surrounding history. Acitivities here and near by include country walks, horse riding , canoeing, cycling, wild swimming and fishing plus with in an hours drive an amazing coastline , the walled town of St Malo, plus Dinan, mount Dol, Europes best preserved medieval castle at Fougues, Mount Saint Michel which is a world heritage site and Rennes, to name but a few. Rimou has a fete (Fete de cones) every year on August the 15 should you wish to see a cultural tradition which has ran from the 1400’s then it’s for you, but remember it’s a village fete Other bits- please note we are still work in progress, so some outside spaces are still not finished, and we have two dogs, Mistok and Pearl, who will be sharing the mill garden with you (except your private garden area) should you wish their company. We have a guide for local places to visit, eat, shop, or historical interests and nature walks etc in the Pigsty. Guest access We have a secure parking area which can take a vehicle up to 7m it’s a short walk to the accommodation please note there are inclines and steps including a steep set which access the private garden, however our Mill grounds most of which you can use are relatively flat, also we can have fast flowing water and slippery surfaces so care must be taken at all times Other things to note We have a private part in our garden that we hope you will respect because you have access to most of it, we have a rowboat at your disposal, with oars or paddles if you want an excursion upstream of the river during your stay.
