A peaceful corner of the Lake District. A great base for exploring the fells and lakes from the doorstep! Lots of offstreet parking. Walking distance to the village pub. Spacious communal living spaces both inside and outside. The space Welcome to our lovely home in Bassenthwaite, a quiet, beautiful village in the Northern Lake District! The house sleeps 7 to 8 people with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Beautiful views of Skiddaw and other fells from the house. The terrace and garden/patio provide fantastic, private, outside seating areas. The house is within a short walk of a local pub in Bassenthwaite village for good food and drink and Keswick and Cockermouth are both 10 to 15 minutes drive away. There are plenty of beautiful walks from the house including Skiddaw via Ullock Pike and Bassenthwaite Lake for wild swimming and other water sports. The Space: Our home is split over 3 floors and guests will be entering from the back garden directly up the outside staircase to the first floor into the Sun Room. Stairs can be dangerous for those unstable on their feet or slippery when wet so please take care. Ground Floor- Hallway with bookcase and maps and sofa bed for additional 8th guest. The front door opens from the ground floor hallway and can be used as a fire exit and to access wheelie bins. Bedroom: Double bed Bathroom: Separate Bath, shower unit, toilet and sink. First Floor- Sun Room: Small sofa with access to the raised terrace dining area. Living Room: 2 large sofas, rocking chair and 2 beanbags. TV. Dining Room: Adjoined to the living room, dining table for up to 8 with an additional leaf table in the Sun Room if needed. Kitchen: Our kitchen is fully equipped with all of our utensils. One or two cupboards may be closed with our own stuff. Toilet Second Floor- Family Shower room: Shower, toilet and sink. Bedroom: Kingsize bed with drawers, wardrobe etc (please note some of our clothes etc will be in the bedrooms but we clear space for you). Bedroom: Double bed with large desk and chair. Bedroom: Single bed with small desk and chair. External: Terrace: The terrace is on the first floor with outdoor table and chairs, beautiful views across Skiddaw and surrounding countryside. Great for evening meals. Note this area is not suitable for small children. Garden: Our garden has a large area with table and chairs for sitting out and enjoying the sunshine! Parking is next to the garden and is quite narrow but there is space for up to 4 cars if parked carefully. Sleeps 7 comfortably and 8 if using the sofa bed in the hallway. We have elderly neighbours and so this is not suitable for Stag Do’s/Hen Do’s or other big parties. We are happy for you to use things in the house but please be considerate and mindful that this is our home and so we do have lots of our possessions around the place – as it is our home, it is not a ‘perfect holiday house’ but we feel it is very comfortable, well-equipped and a fantastic base to explore the Lakes! Guest access The whole house, garden and driveway is for guests sole use. Note the garage areas and courtyard may occasionally be in use by the owner and not accessible to guests. Other things to note Whilst up to 1 dog is allowed, we ask that any dogs coming to stay are well-behaved and quiet dogs. There is an additional fee for dogs for ware and tear but we ask that owners make a special effort to clean up excess hair etc. around our home.
