Evening Rise Guest Farm

Evening Rise is a 273ha farm, situated on the eastern escarpment of Mpumalanga, and is surrounded by the breathtaking Steenkampsberg mountains. It offers crystal clear mountain streams, river trout fishing, birding, mountain walks, mountain biking and total relaxation. The space Guests have this beautiful farm all to themselves. The thatched house is situated on a parklike garden at the foothills of the mountains. The self-catering house is serviced and maintained by loyal staff who reside on the property. The house runs off solar (a small 2kW solar system that powers the lights, and can be used within reason to charge cell phones - there are no wall plugs and no AC power), a gas stove and a gas geyser that heats the water. There is good cell phone (Vodacom) reception in the area. Guest access Guests have full access to the farm and the cottage. The Crocodile River runs along the eastern boundary and provides some of the best trout fishing in South Africa, with more than 2 km of river that can be enjoyed in total privacy. The farm can be accessed via the R36, just off the N4 highway. The Kruger Park is about 1.5hrs away with Pilgrim's Rest and surrounding Mpumalanga site seeing gems - Sudwala Caves, God's Window, Graskop, etc. also nearby which makes for excellent day excursions. Other things to note The farm is 3 hours from Johannesburg and 2.5hrs from Pretoria. The guest farm is situated next to Verlorenkloof, which hosts an Eatery Deli and Coffee shop as well as additional activities such as horseback riding. The nearest town is Lydenburg which is 50km away, with Nelspruit being 1 hour away. It is important to note that the property only has a small 2kW solar system that powers the lights, and can be used (within reason) to charge cell phones. There are no wall plugs and no AC power.
