Description
New for 2024, Florrie's is a very special, upside down, stone cottage in the historic village of Stein on the Waternish peninsula. The shorefront garden, has wonderful views across the islands in Lochbay to the Outer Hebrides, beyond. It is also just a short walk away from The Stein Inn & the Michelin starred, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. The open plan, upstairs living area, with its high ceiling and large windows is perfect for viewing the Waternish sunsets. There is allocated, off road parking. The space From the front door, stairs immediately ahead lead to the upstairs living area. This is a light, airy room with far reaching views & a high ceiling. It has an old green, enamel Morso log burner but there is also electric, panel heating, should you prefer this. It has a Harris Tweed sofa & single armchair. The dining & coffee tables were handmade for us by a local carpenter. There is a small kitchenette with a 2 ring electric hob and single oven / grill beneath. There is a dishwasher but no washing machine. There is ample crockery, glasses, cooking equipment. Downstairs, to the front of the property & with sea views is the spacious bedroom. This is the only room with the characteristic, cottage, low ceiling. This has yet another log burner, a treat for the winter months but there is also a wall heater, should you prefer. There is is a king sized bed, wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Immediately off the bedroom is the luxurious, spacious bathroom which has a big walk in rainfall shower and large, double ended bath. There is a large classic sink, wc and a heated towel rail. Outside, to the front guests have use of the walled front garden with steps down to the shore. There is a bench and a large table. This is shared with the guests in West House, our other property next door. Car parking is off road, to the side of the property. The back garden is not to be used by guests as it is not well maintained. The property was named after the owner’s lovely grandmother. Guest access The whole of Florrie’s can be accessed from the front door. A door in the bedroom blocks off access to the back door, leading to the unused, back garden. Guests can use the parking space to the side of the property for one vehicle. The gated, front garden, is also available to the guests staying in West House, next door. This also has steps up from the shore.
