We warmly invite you to stay in our cosy hand crafted shepherds hut. This unique hut sits within a stunning rural, riverside location, nestled among some of our area's most spectacular lowland hills. At the Heart of the Glen our aim is to offer a truly one of a kind, comfortable, eco friendly self catering holiday experience, making it an ideal snug get-away for couples and individuals seeking a break away from the bustle of city life. The space Upon arrival you will follow a track down to the river and the shepherds hut, there is ample parking beside the hut (approximately a 5 metre walk). The shepherds hut comfortably sleeps 2 people and along with the bed contains a breakfast bar/table with stools for your convenience and a woodburning stove for heat. To accompany the hut, there is an amenities building which is about a 5 metre walk from hut entrance. In this building, there is a covered outdoor kitchen, complete with 2 gas hobs, hot running water, crockery, cookware and utensils. As we are an off grid unit, we do not run on mains electricity and so unfortunately, we do not offer a fridge freezer. However, we will provide cold packs and an insulated box to keep your perishables cool, temporarily. There is also a covered dining area and plenty of outdoor seating options, from a fire pit to benches around the grounds. The amenities hut has a large shower room with hot running water and towels provided. Finally, there is also a toilet facility which is a modern take on a dry (composting loo) and also a small hand washing sink with mirror. We are an off grid residence and all of our power is generated from solar panels to power the lights. The water source is rain water collection. There is 4G phone reception in the Glen which provides relatively fast internet speeds. We do not offer wifi in the huts. Guest access The shepherds hut and amenities building are both part of your accommodation during the stay, you can also enjoy private riverside access and private walks around the woodland and meadows. Other things to note Please note that due to the riverside location of this property, floods can block the access route and walking paths in very wet weather. If the weather forecast is particularly bad then we may suggest you park near the main road, to avoid delays in your onward travel or flood damage to vehicle. If weather is particularly unpleasant we can also discuss cancellation or change of dates, but this must be done 24 hours or more before stay.
