Other things to note Maadi is a posh neighborhood best known for its quiet, leafy streets and lively restaurant scene. Along Road 9 are stylish European and Egyptian restaurants as well as cozy cafés specializing in organic and vegetarian dishes. The Corniche promenade stretches along the Nile and invites you to take a walk. Here you also have the opportunity to take a ride on a felucca – a traditional, wooden sailing boat. From Maadi you can reach Downtown, Zamalek or the pyramids in about 30 minutes, provided the traffic is flowing smoothly. It's best to use an Uber to be comfortable on the go.
