To the rear runs the Pennsylvania Woods which stretches on to the quaint village of Aberkenfig some one mile away where are to be found a good range of small shops and restaurants. Supermarkets are available some two miles from the shepherds hut as is McArthur Glenn Designer Outlet. The location is ideal for those who just wish to enjoy the immediate countryside but also available to guests locally as well as an outstanding coastline/ golden beach, are a large number of activities including the following: walking/cycling on the 'Bridgend Trails' Pony trecking on local beaches/dunes Coarse fishing Visits to Wiggleys Fun Farm and Play Centre Margam Park where organised walks,fishing, adventure park activity, orienteering. Mountain biking etc are available daily. Bryngarw Country Park where their gardens are well worth a visit as are the walks there. These are all within a 10 minute drive from the shepherds hut.
