The Zahara del Pescador
Description
Beautiful eco-friendly oceanfront house in a picturesque fishing village. An idyllic place perfect for those looking to relax, connect with nature and discover the charms of the island and its culture. It has a wonderful living room with spectacular ocean views, you will feel like you are inside a boat. All the rooms have ocean views and the volcanic tongue on which the house sits is the back wall of many of them, making you feel in the middle of nature. The space Built in the 1960s, in a now protected bay. In a picturesque village of white houses where life stopped before mass tourism. The place is an ode to wellness, slow living and nature. Perfect for sports, swimming, diving, trekking or cycling. It's an eco-friendly home. It is powered entirely by solar panels, making it independent of the electrical grid. The house has three floors. On the first floor you will find an impressive dining room, with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The window can be opened completely, making you feel like you're on a boat. It has a full bathroom on the same floor also with beautiful views of the sea. Through stairs that were made in a very artisanal way in the pure style of Cesar Manrique, with some higher than others adapting to the rock on which the house is based, you will reach a floor in the cave in which there are three rooms, one double and two single. The double room faces the volcanic tongue on one side and the sea on the other. The two single rooms have extendable trundle beds to become doubles. And on the same floor there is a second bathroom where you can shower in the rock itself. The house maintains the humility and essence of the local fishermen's houses. But decorative elements have been sought that explain the history of life on the island. If you go down the narrow stairs that reach the lower floor, you will feel more and more the volcanic origin of the island. You will reach the floor at sea level. Built inside the rock you will find a small kitchenette in which to prepare some snacks to have on the bench outside the house or on the rocks while you contemplate the sea. That bench is a good place to meet the locals. They will explain to you about life in the village. How in the beginning they brought things to the village on a donkey. On that floor you will find the fourth room of the house. A double room with an en-suite bathroom. Other things to note It's a house that dates back to the 1960s. The construction was completely handmade. The stairs are original, some steps are higher than others, and a slope that would not be in the construction standards now. Therefore, it can be uncomfortable for people who have mobility difficulties, especially for babies and children who are starting to go down stairs. The village is reached by a beautiful road, surrounded by impressive wild nature. But again, beauty is very much at odds with comfort. It is a very narrow road, very integrated with nature and with a lot of slope. And it's a two-way street and only one car passes. So for some drivers it can be overwhelming. From July 1 to 15 are the town festivals and although it is a perfect time to get to know the local culture, it also greatly increases the discomfort because many visitors come to celebrate the festivals and being a protected place, parking is limited. So on those dates it is better for people who want to stay in the village and enjoy the coast rather than travel by car, since when they return home they may find it difficult to park. On the other hand, the festivities are very nice, the Virgen del Carmen is celebrated and the virgin is taken out in procession by boat. It's the perfect time to enjoy the nature park, swimming, diving and walks along the coast. Registration Details Canary Islands - Regional registration number VV-38-4-0106374
