Trinket - The Cliff Top Cottage

Trinket Cottage is a beautiful, cosy and charming cottage. The cottage is within walking distance of beach access, and the cliff tops, where you can watch the dolphins pass, a short drive from Flamborough where you can see the large seal colony and the beautiful chalk coastline, and Bempton which is home to the UKs largest seabird city comprising of, amongst other birds, everyones favourite, the puffin. The space What you’ll find is a cottage filled with love, and a feeling of comfort and relaxation everyone hopes to find when they escape the usual day to day grind of daily life. Trinket Cottage is set in the small village of Sewerby which is located just 2 miles from Bridlington, and 3 miles from Flamborough. It comprises of: Downstairs... Open plan kitchen living area, with breakfast bar, fully equipped kitchen, cosy settee with giant foot stool, smart TV with freeview channels and all the usual apps including Amazon Prime and Netflix, radio with bluetooth, living flame fire, and a few board games for those rainy days. Shower room with large shower area. Upstairs... Bedroom with kingsize bed, hairdryer, and views of the sea from the window. Bathroom consisting of bath, wc, basin, lit mirror, towels, and complimentary toiletries. Central heating throughout. Step out of the front door, walk down a short track, and you’re straight onto Sewerby cliff top with its stunning views. There is free on street parking outside the cottage with some seasonal restrictions. There is also free on street nearby. In addition to this, you will also have access to a garage across from the cottage which you can use as and when you need it during your stay. Other things to note Locally you can enjoy Sewerby Hall Estate and Gardens. The hall, restored in 2014 as a country house circa 1910, displays impressive historic interiors, nationally important furniture which is on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and a collection of memorabilia which was once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson. The 50-acre grounds offer spectacular views over Bridlington Bay and include award-winning landscape gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Sewerby Hall is also home to a small zoo which includes creatures great and small, from guinea pigs and micropigs, to sika deer and Cameroon sheep. Catch the capuchin monkeys playing around their home, watch the mischievous pygmy goats or go see the cute raccoon dogs in their enclosures. With penguins, donkeys, coatis, llamas and more too. Bempton Bird Sanctuary is also a place worth visiting. The huge white chalk cliffs at Bempton are impressive at any time of year. Bempton Cliffs, on the spectacular Yorkshire coast, is home to one of the UK's top wildlife spectacles. Around half a million seabirds gather here between March and August to raise a family on the towering chalk cliffs that overlook the North Sea. But visit between April and July, and you'll find them transformed into England’s largest seabird city. Here Puffins, Gannets, Kittiwakes and Guillemots live life on the edge. There are more Gannets acrobatically diving into the deep here than anywhere else on mainland England. Danes Dyke is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walking in the woods is great all year round. Carpets of snowdrops appear early in the year at Danes Dyke. As the year continues, vibrant bluebells appear on the woodland floor and listen out for the familiar call of the cuckoo to really know spring has arrived in the woods. Summer time isn’t only for heading to the beach! It’s great in the woods too, and the tall trees offer welcome shade. The woodland edges and paths around the fields are good place to spot butterflies and the odd deer if you’re lucky. Flamborough boasts some of the most spectacular chalk cliffs in Britain. Flamborough Head is a local nature reserve as well as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, protected for its wildlife and geology. The beach at North Landing has some of the best rockpooling around, with crabs, starfish and marine molluscs to be discovered by young explorers. In fact, the area is a European Marine Site because the seas around the headland are crystal clear, with distinctive reef and cave habitats, and a rich marine life. Take a walk from Sewerby along the cliff top all the way to Thornwick Bay and along the way take in the spectacular scenery including the local grey seal colony, which is now in excess of 500 in number, the ‘drinking dinosaur’, and the impressive Flamborough lighthouse. From North Landing you can also book a half hour cruise to Smugglers Cave and the bird sanctuary, or a 3 hour fishing trip. Bridlington is a seaside resort with large sandy beaches. It is home to the largest shell fishing port in the United Kingdom, and you can see catches being brought in on a daily basis. The Spa Theatre is on the seafront and is home to many international acts throughout the year. From the harbour you can also take a trip on the Yorkshire Belle which will take you out and along the impressive coastline of Flamborough and Bempton Bird Sanctuary. If you’re lucky you may also be given a display by our local dolphins who can also be seen from Sewerby Cliff tops on occasion. During the summer months, a land train transports people from Sewerby to Bridlington along the cliff top.
