Campsite #3 The space Grouse Lake Campground is uniquely situated along Grouse Lake at the edge of Chugach National Forest. This is a WALK-IN, TENT-ONLY campground with parking at the entrance. Each site has a beautiful view of the lake to watch the wildlife such as the occasional ducks, beavers, and land otters. Bring your sleeping bags, tents, tarps, and fishing pole. Guest access Guests are free to explore Grouse Lake Campground being observant of any no trespassing signs; fish along the lake; bring your canoe, raft, paddle board, or paddle boat to explore the lake or fish in the deeper water where fish like to hide. If guests wish to swim in the water, they do so at thier own risk, as there is no life guard. Also, it is recomeded that guests wear swim shoes if they do decide to jump in the water. Build a campfire and enjoy your time here while being considerate of other guests. Other things to note There has been much confusion with "Walk-in Only" and we've had guests drive their vehicles to their campsite and not know where to park, or turn around. The reason this is a walk-in only campground is that it is small, there is not enough room for camper's vehicles to park next to their sites. Many campers have children and pets and the space in front of each campsite is for their enjoyment, not to worry about vehicular traffic. Please be considerate of other campers and your camphost and park your vehicle in the parking area provided. Also, many ask, "How far is it to walk?" With my stride (I take small steps) it is approximately 26 steps from the entrance to campsite #2; 46 steps from the entrance to campsite #3; 66 steps from the entrance to campsite #4; 86 steps from the entrance to campsite #5; 106 steps from the entrance to campsite #6; 126 steps from the entrance to the day use area; and 146 steps from the entrance to campsite #7.
