Description

Semi-detached duplex house located in scenic surroundings. With Nyborg Fjord on one side and Holcken Havn Fjord on the other, the sublime nature will make you want to go on adventures. Wether it be a trip to the beach located just outside the garden, or a historic walk to next door neighbour Holckenhavn Castle, your day is bound to be full of beautiful sights and precious memories. The house itself is spacious and bright and full of colourful interior and eclectic objects. Great for 2-5 guest. The space A twin house — a semi-detached duplex—shares a center wall and looks like two identical houses but are completly separated by a shared wall. Each one is a mirror image of the other and have their own private front door. In Denmark this is called a twin house or a double house. The owners live next door to the rental. Ground floor includes: - Kitchen. - Living room. - Dining room. - Hallway with a staircase to 1. floor. 1. floor includes: - Master bedroom (King bed 180x200cm which can be seperated into two single beds). - Double bedroom (140x200cm, not separable). - Single bedroom (90x200). - Bathroom / toilet. - Hallway with staircase to ground floor. We can provide a extra single bed. Please see additional costs for extra guest. We can also provide a dining chair designed for toddleres. Please let us know in advance. HISTORY: The twin house was build in 1918 by two brothers who ran a local boat building company. They lived as next door neighbours for many years. We are sure that they and their families spend warm summerdays by the beach. Back then the beach was called “Bellevue” and was a most populare picnic destination among residents of Nyborg. Today the beach is known as “Lillestrand” (Littlebeach) and is a remote beach no longer publicly known. Most days we have the beach entirely to ourselves. It is kind of a special feeling that we hope you will experience too. Guest access You can access the beach anytime of the day from Holckenhavn Harbour, just a few meters down the road. The beach is public and you can use it as much as you like. Our private jetty is great for picnics and water play. From the beach you have access to our beach garden. In summer we will provide a dining area and a bbq. Let us know if you would like to borrow our open adventure kajaks. You can explore the beautiful coastline just by following the outer fjord. An trip only accessible by boat. The main garden surrounding the house is private. If you want to access the beach through our private garden, please let us know beforhand as we have two labrador retrievers who sometimes need to be let outside. They pretend to be tough but they are very friendly. But lets not take any chances. If your would like we can absolutly arrange a meet and greet between people and pets. PRECAUTIONS: Please make sure to lock all gates behind you. We have a small child and dogs who needs to be kept safe within the private garden. Other things to note FISHING Are you bringing your fishing gear? Great! There is a designated fishing area just down the beach and one more across the water. Please follow the fishing rules that apply for the area. Our ask your host. They might know the best spot of them all ;) We have a private jetty big enough to secure a dinghy. If you are bringing your own you can launch it from Holckenhavn Harbour. BIRDING The outer and inner fjords of Nyborg are incredible. Don’t miss the sun set behind the hilly landscape as swans fly across the dam and the great crested grebes preforme their peculiar dance. If you are lucky you might get a glimps of the metallic lightning; the kingfisher. So definitely bring your binoculars and wild life lens. This area is the perfect habitat for native birds nesting and feeding. Most days you can spot the endangered sea eagle and her youngs. In autumn hundreds of starlings gather in murmuration. And in spring the beloved northern lapwing dances across the sky. But don’t just keep your head in the clouds.. Most days the porpoises (a tiny whale) can be seen hunting nearby the coast. The curious spotted seal is often observed poking its head out of the water too. CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS Holckenhavn Castle is located on the opposite side of the fjord. A ten minute walk from the house will take you to the beautiful park surrounding the historic castle which was once the home of noble lady Ellen Marsvin. Further up the road you will find the small “Dyrehave Forest” which is a beautiful green oasis. The forest sits ontop of a steep valley carved by glacial meltwater. It looks incredible and gives the landscape an unusual shape for this region. Right next to the forest you will find the well perserved “Dyrehave Mølle” (Deer Park Mill) which is a Dutch windmill dating from 1858. It stands out as a landmark on the tallest spot in Nyborg. You can visit the mill on specific days during the week. The historic Nyborg Castle is located within the inner city. It dates back to around 1200 and was once the royal residence of King Christian III. CITY AND HARBOUR It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk to Nyborg Marina and 20 minutes to walk to the inner city. The marina is a nice spot for hangouts. Here you’ll find a big playground, fish n chip food truck and a café. At 12 am almost every noon the local fishermen come in with freshly caught fish. Go to the red fishermen sheds to buy their catch. Through the harbour you can walk to the city center. There are heaps of grocery stores, fine boutiques, cute cafes, restaurants and an ice cream store that makes their own ice cream and vaffles. RECOMMENDED - Det Lille Vaffelbageri for ice cream and vaffles. - Vinspecialisten for coffee, snacks and wine. - Al Ponde for Italian specialities and treats. - Fru Hansen for delicious cheese and cold cuts. - Gertz Bakery for beautiful pastries and traditional bread. - Den Smalle Food Truck for Fish n Chips. - Mammas for pizza. - Roeds Brasserie for beautiful lunch and lovely dinner.
