Description
Tucked away on 2.2 acres, 15 minutes from downtown and 8 minutes to Cornell, our charming house is surrounded on 3 sides by woods and feels like a cozy, minimalist retreat. We have 2 bedrooms downstairs, each with a twin bed, and large room upstairs with 2 more twin beds. (Those are easily moved and could be put next to each other on request). Beautifully updated bathroom with laundry; kitchen opens onto large back deck. We have ducks and chickens, and you can help yourself to fresh eggs! The space Our house has 3 beds and 1 large bathroom. One of the bedrooms is our upstairs, which doesn't have a closing door. The upstairs also has a desk and lots of open space for a calm, meditative feel. Our house in general is not heavily decorated-- we prioritize simplicity and minimalism, so we're hoping it can feel like a personal retreat for anyone who stays. (We only have 4 beds but have a nugget couch that can sleep another adult, if you have 5 people!) Our kitchen opens onto a large back deck, and our back yard is 2+ acres, including a creek, fire pit, and gardens that you're welcome to pick veggies and herbs from (depending on the season). More photos of the outside coming soon. We have a smaller, covered front porch. We only use natural cleaners (we use rubbing alcohol to disinfect the toilet, bath, and faucets) and no synthetic fragrances. We are also smoke and pet free, in case anyone has allergies. We also ask for guests to not use strong fragrances or bring pets because of our daughter's severe asthma. This is our actual house, not a rental property, so please take that into account! We will try to have everything feel as clean and empty as possible before you arrive, but we will have books on the shelves, food in the pantry, and clothes in some of the drawers! We are also extremely low tech-- so no smart appliances, random extra screens, cameras, or Alexas! Of course we have wifi, and a bluetooth speaker you're welcome to use, but beyond that we hope you will enjoy the simplicity and quietness of being a bit disconnected. Guest access The main level and upstairs rooms are available, but please not the basement. We will try to have some closet and drawer space available, but most closets and dressers will have some of our things in them. Other things to note Our house doesn't get great cell reception, so most people find they have to use our Wifi for internet/calls. We also have ducks, chickens, and (outside) rabbits, who will be taken care of by friends of ours. You're welcome to some fresh eggs if you'd like!
