The Parker House (Full House, 6 Bedrooms)
Description
This beautiful home is in the center of two of Detroit's coolest and most historic neighborhoods: Indian Village and West Village. You're a five minute walk to the city's best coffee, award-winning restaurants, and iconic architecture. 10 minute drive to downtown. You will have the entire upstairs 3.5 bedroom apartment and two private bedrooms in the downstairs unit, which is set up like a bed and breakfast. Excellent for large groups who need space and beds. The space We would love to welcome you to our little neighborhood inn, Parker House Detroit! You can read more about us at parkerhousedetroit (dot) com. The six beds all feature premium mattress with crisp cotton sheets, fluffy down comforters, and four great pillows. Specifically, we have a Casper, Tempur-pedic, and Tuft & Needle mattresses. Some Airbnbs skimp on these essentials—not us. Our guests consistently remark that our beds are some of the most comfortable they have ever slept in. The upstairs apartment has 3.5 bedrooms, four beds, a living room, dining room, full kitchen, and 1.5 bathrooms. This a completely separate apartment with its own private entrance. The downstairs unit has 2 bedrooms (both queen beds) and your own private bathroom. Your rooms and private bathroom are in the front portion of a large West Village home where I (Karen) live. I stay in a separate area in the back of the downstairs apartment with my own bathroom, so you will very much feel like you have your own space. You have free use of the downstairs dining room and living room or you can join your friends upstairs in their private space. The downstairs kitchen is not included in your reservation, so please have your group use the upstairs kitchen. In the 1980's, I owned a bed & breakfast in Petoskey, a city in northern Michigan, with my mother that was reviewed in national travel journals. It is such a joy to continue the bed & breakfast tradition in the Internet era via Airbnb!! I love hosting guests and introducing visitors to the city of Detroit. We allow guests to check in and drop your bags as early as 2pm to the downstairs unit. Depending on how many guests check out before you, we may need until 4pm to get the upstairs apartment ready. Guest access The upstairs unit is completely separate and private with its own entrance. For the two bedrooms in the downstairs unit, I prefer to meet my guests and introduce myself since I also live downstairs in the back section of the house. Therefore, you need to check in before 10pm so I can welcome you to the space. Once you have checked in, you may come and go as you please at any time of day or night. You have full access to the beautiful backyard and the front porch. We have a BBQ, croquet set, and raised bed gardens built by Planet School interns. We stock a snack area with coffee, a selection of tea, and bottled water. There is a TV in your living room with Netflix, HBOMax, and Amazon Video. You are also welcome to use the common areas of the home—living room, dining room, and library. Other things to note The sofas are not set up for sleeping, so we ask that you only use the beds. The upstairs unit is accessed via a staircase to the second floor of the home. The downstairs unit also has five steps to climb to ascend the front porch. This home is over 100 years old. The original wood floors creak, the windows are finicky, and the air conditioning is window mounted (3 upstairs, 2 downstairs). The house has character that we hope you enjoy as we do.
