Enjoy this charming 1922 Bungalow filled with a mid-century modern originals! The owners (yes, this is our home) are a Cal Poly professor and an antique dealer. Unwind while enjoying this peaceful historic 100-year-old home located in the heart of San Luis Obispo’s Mill Historic District. This is not a party house, but a quiet real home with tranquil cottage gardens and a comfy front porch in which to watch California birds and butterflies with our two resident cats Toastie and Poe. The space The Space: As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice that this is not your typical minimalist and neutral commercial rental. Instead, we’ve filled the bungalow with vintage furniture and art from around the world as we lived abroad for many years before moving to California. You’ll discover quirky and eclectic pieces throughout the house. But don’t worry: this home is full of modern comforts too like a gas fire for the winter months and air conditioning in the summer months. A classic colorful kitchen is fully stocked for all your cooking needs with newer refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. A stackable washer/dryer for your use is found in the hall that takes you to the two bedrooms. Dining room table seats up to 6 and can be used as a workspace. There’s high speed internet and Streaming Services in the living room including Hulu, Amazon, MLB, NFL and Netflix. The first bedroom has a Queen bed frame, new hand tufted high-end mattress (made in California) and all cotton bedding for your comfort! The second bedroom has a new high-quality Queen pull out sofa bed. The sofa in the living room can also fold down into a single bed. The front porch overlooks a cottage garden with multiple rose bushes and California native plants while the back deck has colorful potted plants, views of the mountains, outdoor dining area and a gas Weber BBQ. Parking in driveway or street. We’ve got two boogie boards and picnic/beach supplies if requested. Guest access There is a back studio behind the main house where we will be on hand during your stay to answer any questions! The studio is fully separate, there are no shared living spaces. Guest are welcome to use the front garden, driveway, house and back deck with back garden. The studio, garage and behind the studio are off limits. Of course, the cats don't care, and will roam everwhere! Please let us know if you prefer to have the cats out of the main house. Other things to note Two resident cats create the purrrfect vacation spot! A historic house means a historic driveway! Our driveway is 91 inches wide. Guest may want to park in the front half of the drive, rather than the back which can feel narrow.
