Description
The Shire is a fabulous Grade 2 Listed thatched cottage in the historic village of Haslingfield. Its Ideal for walking or cycling to the local river, or country footpaths that join to our neighbouring villages. Haslingfield is a 10 minute drive from the famous village of Grantchester and only 15/20 minute drive to Cambridge, where you have all the world famous colleges/shops and history. The space The property is newly renovated so all the amenities are modern including a new kitchen, wifi, smart televisions, modern shower and toilet, large double bedroom. There is also a new patio that is perfect in the summer for your morning breakfast. The bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. As it's an old cottage the stairs are a little squeaky but it's all part of the charm of a 1700 building. Please note that the Shire is a small and quiet place to stay. It’s certainly not a place for parties and as this is my home I ask in advance that people that stay are conscious about respecting the neighbours peace. *important* the stay stipulates quiet time after 2200 as the walls are thin. Quiet time means lowered voices and no loud Tv after 2200 as it upsets the neighbours. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea so it’s worth noting before any booking please 😊 The parking here is free but not at the property. It’s allocated on the local street 100meters away. It’s a safe and well lite street when dark. There is a private drive to the house but cars cannot park along this as it will obstruct the neighbours and cause complaints so please take this into consideration. There is also a log burner in the house, but it’s not for use at the moment. It’s not fully fitted so In no circumstances can it be used. The house has full central heating though so it’s toasty as you need it too be. I would also suggest that if you have infants that are awake during the night this may not be the place to stay 😊 The stairs are also old and for some maybe steep so please ask if this would be a problem and I’ll send some pictures over to make sure its not going to be an issue for you I also have 2 house cats that are super friendly They are not allowed up stairs so spend most of their time in the lounge or outside. Bw Guest access Full house and patio Other things to note *important* the stay stipulates quiet time after 2200 as the walls are thin. Quiet time means lowered voices and no loud Tv after 2200 as it upsets the neighbours. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea so it’s worth noting before any booking please 😊 Also that it’s a small house so having infants that don’t sleep through the night are not advised There is no terrestrial TV I’m afraid as I don’t have an arial so guests are very welcome to use the smart tvs for Netflix and other streaming platforms. The public transport in the village is available each day The house does have quite a low ceiling so if your 6ft plus it maybe a struggle for you. Please also see a picture of the stairs as they are steep and curved so anyone thinking of staying please take this into consideration to make sure the stay is right for any mobility issues around this. There is no parking allocated to the house so guests are directed to use the local street that is 100 meters away. It’s a very safe and lit street, but do take this into consideration when booking.
