Oakhill Ponds - cabin, hot-tub, wild swim & sauna

Enjoy a stay in Alice, a hand-built oak shepherd’s hut for two with your own Hikki Bohemen wood-fired hot tub (wood for one soak included). Dip in our magical spring-fed swimming ponds on private land, explore the waterfall & grotto, then return to off-grid comfort: hot shower, solar power, excellent Wi-Fi, French linen, wool duvets & a wood burner (starter logs/kindling/firelighters included). Optional outdoor spa with two saunas at a reduced guest rate. Horse Lorry Library + great pub nearby. The space Oakhill Ponds is a 25-acre off-grid retreat landscape in Somerset, with spring-fed swimming ponds, woodland walks, waterfalls and a hidden grotto that’s gradually being brought back to life. Alice sits by the meadow in her own sheltered garden area edged with beech and hornbeam, a few minutes’ walk from the ponds. In winter, Alice shares the land with just one other shepherd’s hut. In summer, there are also four Lotus Belle tents elsewhere on the site. Book a morning/afternoon/evening slot and the space is exclusively yours, including two wood-fired saunas and cold dips (pond steps / cold plunge depending on season and set-up). Reduced guest rate. Seasonal sessions From spring to autumn we also run paddleboard Pilates and yoga sessions, bookable in advance (subject to dates and instructor availability). Guest access You’ll have your own private shepherd’s hut and garden area with wood-fired hot tub. You’re also welcome to explore our private land: spring-fed swimming ponds, woodland paths, waterfalls, grotto, and the Horse Lorry Library/reading room. The outdoor spa area (two saunas/cold plunge) is available by pre-booked session at a reduced guest rate. Other things to note Deep water / age policy: our ponds are deep. For safety, we don’t host children under 12. Pond access: the ponds are on private land and are for guests and members only. Most of the time they’re wonderfully peaceful and you may have them to yourselves. Occasionally they’re shared with swimmers staying in our other hut or nearby accommodation. Quiet retreat: Oakhill Ponds is a calm, nature-rich place for swimming, soaking, reading and rest (not a party venue). Wood included: we provide a starter pack for the hut wood burner (logs, kindling + firelighters) and hot tub wood for one soak. Extra wood is available at cost if you’d like more. Winter note (until end of April): Finnish Fridays can make the ponds/spa area livelier from 5–8pm. Hut guests are welcome to join in, or enjoy a complimentary 8pm sauna when it’s already hot (subject to availability). Off-grid & compost loos: we’re off-grid; compost loos are hygienic, well maintained and regularly serviced. Road noise: you may notice some road noise at busier times, but birdsong dominates most of the day. Seasonal water kit: in the warmer months we make paddleboards and kayaks available for guest use (weather/water conditions permitting).
