The Piggery at Shobrooke Mill

The Piggery at Shobrooke Mill is a peaceful two bedroom cottage, set in the grounds of Shobrooke Mill in the heart of the Devon countryside. Just a 15 minute drive to Exeter city centre and 30 minutes to the closest beach. A local train station with routes from north to south Devon is within a mile. There is an extensive network of footpaths from the property along the famous Tarka Trail with some superb country pubs on the way, including the Beer Engine. The space The Piggery is situated on the edge of Shobrooke Mill courtyard. Shobrooke Mill is a converted 16th century water mill which has been converted into a large family house, stables and holiday accommodation. Shobrooke Mill is situated within our own land with woods, streams and an orchard which guests are welcome to explore. The Piggery overlooks one of our paddocks which is surrounded by a tributary to the river Creedy and our very own leat. We have several horses, ponies and lots of sheep. Guests are encouraged to come and say hello! Family pets are very welcome, although please do let us know beforehand. We have several paddocks and if you wish to bring your own horse(s) this can be arranged. The Piggery is located on Shobrooke Mill courtyard and directly next to our stable block. The courtyard is a working farm environment (including early-morning movements) and guests are very welcome to become as much or as little involved as they wish. There is parking available for one vehicle, but space for another could be arranged. Enter the cottage from double doors, which takes you into the living area. There are exposed beams and reclaimed elm detail throughout. This area is furnished with a comfortable sofa, dining table and chairs. There are views over the paddock from the window. To the right, there is an open plan, well-equipped kitchen with views from the window over the courtyard. The kitchen area has a breakfast bar with bar stools. An open staircase takes you upstairs to a family bathroom which has a shower bath. The bath benefits from the lovely view over the paddock, leat and surrounding countryside. There are two bedrooms, one king-size and one twin. From the king-size bedroom window, kingfishers have been spotted bathing in the leat. To the exterior of the property, there is a small patio area with furniture which overlooks the leat. In our grounds we also have a large farmhouse which sleeps up to 14 people - Shobrooke Mill Farmhouse. If you wish to book both properties at the same time then this can be arranged.
