Description
Step off the treadmill and into a piece of Australian history. Nestled beneath ancient river gums and with absolute river frontage, the Shearer's Quarters is located only 15 minutes from the thriving town of Goondiwindi. Situated on a working sheep farm, it is the perfect haven for relaxing, star gazing, fishing, bird watching, kayaking, reconnecting with nature or just breaking that interstate drive. Comes with basic cooking facilities, fridge/freezer, fire pit, fans, heating and wifi. The space The Shearer's Quarters is fully screened and has two bedrooms - one with a king bed; the other a double. A fire pit is out the front overlooking the creek - a renowned fishing spot. Wood provided. There are basic cooking and cleaning facilities including a gas hot plate cooker; air fryer/oven; frying pan; toaster; kettle; fridge/freezer; vacuum and washing machine. The bedrooms are fitted out with feather doonas and oil heaters for chilly winter nights with fans for summer. Guests are welcome to explore the creek and nearby paddocks. While the horses are friendly, guests are advised to move slowly and calmly around them and to avoid walking behind them. Please always close gates behind you so that stock can't get out. Guest access On arrival at the farm, come down the driveway to the main house (about 1 km) and I will take you over to the shearer’s quarters (about 500 m away). If you can, please let me know your approximate ETA so that I can make sure someone is at the house to greet you on arrival. Once at the Quarters, STARLINK wifi is available. No password required. Other things to note While the shower, toilet, washing machine and washup station are all on bore water sourced from the great artesian basin, there is a small filtered rainwater tap located at the sink in the outdoor lean to (where the fridge/freezer and washing machine are located). While the bore water is safe for human consumption, the filtered rainwater tastes much nicer😋. I would strongly recommend it for drinking and coffee/tea.
