The Funky Château

Take it easy and base your Alaska adventures out of this unique cabin in the woods! The funky chateau is the perfect cabin to relax and enjoy the beauty of Kenny Lake, suitable for 6 guests to experience rural Alaska with a few extra amenities! The space The Funky Chateau is a charming custom built cabin in Kenny Lake, Alaska! The property has two separate two story structures, connected by an outdoor deck and double staircase. The main floor of the cabin is an open concept design with a kitchen, wood burning stove, window seating, a small dining table, and futon. The futon folds out into a full sized bed suitable for two. The studio and greenhouse are connected by a boardwalk to the main cabin. The outside staircase and deck give you access to both bedrooms, the loft and the studio. The cabin loft has a queen bed, vaulted ceiling, a built in shelving/hanging unit for your clothes, reading material, outlets for charging, and a railing for safety as you peek below at the dining area and wood burning stove. Above the bathhouse, accessed by the outside staircase, is the studio, lots of windows and beautiful views, a full size bed, vintage couch and dresser. A perfect space for rest and relaxation! Access to the bathhouse is through the greenhouse, a lovely place to sit and sip. The bathhouse has a full sized bathtub with shower, sink, hot water, a sitting area and open area perfect for yoga or exercise. The toilet is located in an upscale Alaska style "outhouse," that we call the "Poo Palace," about 150 feet away from the cabin. It is a spacious, brand new 8'x10' structure complete with windows, a deck, mosquito netted doorway and of course, a toilet! Follow the landscaped, rock lined path from the cabin to the “Poo Palace.” There is a grassy yard in front of the cabin, perfect for doggies or children to play. It is surrounded by trees and prolific rhubarb plants in the summer, and is a great place to relax or play games day or night! Parking is great for up to 3-4 vehicles, a long gravel driveway allows adjacent parking at the cabin. The cabin has fiber optic WiFi, electricity, a propane cook stove and mini fridge. We haul our water from the community well to a holding tank. The water runs hot to the bathroom and gravity fed cold to the kitchen. Water conservation is encouraged. Our co-hosts live at the end of the road of the 12 acre property, and are available to you if you have any needs or questions during your stay. Guest access The entire cabin and grounds are yours to enjoy!
