The Grand Lodge: Private rainforest with river

The pet-friendly Grand Lodge is a limestone sanctuary with five bedrooms—three king, one double, one double bunk, plus a sofa bed. Enjoy forest views from two lounges, two kitchens, and two bathrooms. Outside, relax in private courtyards with an eight-person jacuzzi, BBQ, and treetop terrace, or unwind by the fireplaces and oversized tub overlooking the rainforest. Perfect for families or groups seeking a tranquil escape. Quiet enjoyment only—no parties after 10 PM. The space Winding down the driveway you’re transported into an idyllic forest paradise, an oasis of private lush green rain forest, set on 7 acres of towering mountain ash trees and giant tree ferns. Sit and meditate by the private brook, discover the mini waterfalls, feed the friendly rosellas, king parrots, kookaburras and our impromptu resident cockatoo. Look out for the wombats and wallabies and even deer. If you’re wanting to immerse yourself in the healing virtue of nature, if you’re needing peace and quiet, spiritual, emotional, or physical rejuvenation, this retreat is for you. While you’re with us treat yourself to Mount Dandenongs numerous tourist, natural and cultural attractions, gardens, bush walks, restaurants, music, cafés, specialist art and curio shops, not to mention the many wineries of the nearby Yarra Valley. ON SITE SAUNA We provide an onsite dry sauna with outdoor shower and bath, all set within a lovely private bush setting of forest views. Please understand that this is not included in your booking and can be booked for an additional fee via our website or by messaging us directly. PETS Your pets are welcome but must always be on leash when outside to protect wildlife. Please bring your own pets food requirements, bowls and bedding and please ensure no pets on the furniture. All pet waste is to be cleaned up by guests. Please refer to the Pet policy which will be sent to you after your booking. We charge an additional fee for pets to stay. ON SITE MASSAGE Indulge yourself with an in-house massage, facial or body treatment provided by Balance Mountain Day Spa Olinda. To book, all links and phone numbers can be found on our website. Please give the address and the name of the cottage you are staying at and allow a minimum of 2 days’ notice. Alternatively, you can go to the Balance Mountain Day Spa Olinda website, where you can book directly or speak with Nadine. The sleeping configuration is: 3 king beds (bedrooms 1, 4 & 5 - please note that in ONE of these bedroom the king bed can be converted into 2 singles upon request) 1 bunk bed (double on bottom and single on top (bedroom 2) 1 double bed (bedroom 3) 1 sofa bed (in living room) 2 porta cots for children under 2 We have a number of other cottages also available - please look up our website directly to view these. We look forward to welcoming you at the Fernglen Forest Retreat. Visitors Accommodation is for the use of the guests nominated in the booking only. Gatherings or events are permitted in the dwelling only if arranged explicitly with management and the accommodation is booked as such. There is an additional grounds hire fee associated with any events. Guests found to violate these conditions will be charges for grounds hire fees/additional cleaning fees and removed from the property if required. Guest access GETTING THERE The property address is 10 Fern Glen Ave Mount Dandenong. If approaching from the Montrose (North) end of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road turn left into Hume Lane (just before Tatra Hut) and second right into Fernglen Ave. Go to the very end of the road and you will arrive at our gates. The Mt. Dandenong Tourist Rd road runs to the top of the mountain and then down again to Upper Ferntree Gully which is at the bottom of the map (South). SELF CHECKIN Self check-in is available using a key safe box. The key safe box is located at the front door. A code will be emailed to you on the day prior to your check in. To open the key box, follow the following instructions: • Punch in the code (the code shall be sent to you on the day of your check in, via text and email). Should you not receive this code, please call Renee. • Slide the open button down and remove the lid. • The key shall be located inside the key box. • After removing the key, enter the code again and slide down the open button and put the lid back. CHECK-IN TIMES Check-in time is 3 pm and checkout is 10am. If you need to extend these please contact us, but be aware that we can only offer one, at the most two hours extension as we do need to clean between guests PARKING The grand lodge offers parking for 4 cars and have a self check-in lock boxes opposite the front doors. Codes and directions to your cottage will be emailed to you the day before arrival. Other things to note Natural Environment Please note the Dandenong Ranges is home many animals and also to small little bugs which is a natural part of our ecosystem. You may encounter or hear some animals while staying with us, including noise from birdsong and possums. Small little bugs can also sometimes get inside and we do our very best to gently remove them during changeover. Connectivity We offer high speed internet (1ooMB). However we can't ensure no issues due to weather or maintenance. Phone service is touchy in the Dandenong Ranges. We encourage or guests to use wifi calling while staying with us.
