Description
Why spend your entire vacation in the tourist belt then take a tour bus to Concord Falls? Stay with us a night or 2 to hike the rainforest, explore the little known falls; eat a forest cooked meal, visit the Amerindian Cave and the secluded Black Bay beach. Rest at our house with its rustic charm, mixing new and old, and where your bedroom opens into a patio filled with flowers and the sound of the Concord river. Buses from St.Georges to Sauteurs pass close by, but do not disturb the ambience. The space Each year, thousands of travelers visit the Concord Falls and have to rush away because the tour bus is about to leave and they miss the opportunity to experience the pull and tug of the forest. The impenetrable greenness, the crackling and the silence which make each person more acutely aware of their existence. As beautiful and haunting and irresistible as this is, too many visitors have to rely on the tour bus or rented car because there is no accommodation in the vicinity of the Falls. We are attempting to change this. We offer a one bedroom apartment with ensuite bathroom and double bed. The bedroom opens onto a patio, with adequate space for relaxing, eating, drinking or lounging in the hammock. The living room is cozy. The kitchen has the usual amenities along with a 2 person eat-in counter which is collapsible and can double as a computer work station. What is striking about the space though is the mixing of new and old and of the use of recycled materials. From the modern vessel sink that sits on the old sewing machine stand to the bed side table made of an old metal trunk to the rattan chairs made from natural rattan reed to the flat screen mounted on the wall and the swivel bar counter stools. The idea is that visitors would find their medium. Guest access It is a self-contained apartment, so the entire space is accessible. There is no smoking inside of the apartment. All smoking should be done outside. Other things to note There are two restaurants a mile or so away but but you can eat tasty meals at reasonable cost, from Gertrude who lives upstairs. Since bus to points south and North and West stop running at around 9.30 p.m. we can arrange for taxis at a reasonable cost. Friday night is a weekly fish friday at Gouyave. Last Saturday in the month is Food Fest at Victoria. Last sunday is Mt Moritz breakfast.
