This cabin-style dome house is one of several unique homes in our private mountainside community where business founders gather to decompress, go on adventures, work on themselves and their projects. The interior of Catarata is designed with a large open-plan interior space with an integrated open-plan bedroom & lounge area so that you feel comfortable hanging out, relaxing, or working. The sleeping area has a queen size bed, comfortable bedding & extra blankets for chilly nights. The lounge area includes sofa, large coffee table, occasional chairs, & a dining table chairs set all arranged so that you can be inside whilst taking in the incredible views. From the sofa, you can see the volcanoes Acatenango and the eruptions of El Fuego. There is also a dedicated work space with countertop and stool, or if you prefer to work standing, you can do so too. The small kitchen built into the exposed rock face (which keeps the house naturally cool) is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, crockery, wine glasses, & water glasses. It has a gas oven with 4-ring stove-top, a coffee maker, kettle and microwave. The fridge has a small freezer compartment. Cooking oil, salt & pepper are provided. The bathroom has a hot water shower with good pressure, shower gel, shampoo, towels. There is great wifi throughout. Outside, the property has a large deep balcony with table, chairs & a small bbq (charcoal available in our shop along with meals, marshmallows and hot chocolate!) where you can enjoy the fresh air, amazing sunsets, and the wonderful views of the volcanoes. The breathtaking views of the volcanoes speak for themselves and you can see the erupting lava of Volcán Del Fuego almost year-round! Located in the mountains of Antigua Guatemala in the neighbourhood of El Hato, a key destination for those wanting the best stays in nature and amazing views of the volcanoes, and to be outside of the congested historical centre of Antigua, but with easy access to it. The El Hato neighbourhood is about a 10 minute drive uphill from Cerro De La Cruz in the historical city centre. Here, you have a spectacular view of the volcanoes and the city centre of Antigua Guatemala. We are also a few minutes walk from a great yoga studio, and you are another 10 minutes drive up the hill to Hobbitenango. The best way to move is to drive up the hill and then explore the typical local countryside style neighbourhood on foot. This is one of the residential homes at Finca El Tambor, Antigua Guatemala and parking & taxi's go all the way to the main property entrance. The mountain has a variety of hiking trails and spectacular views. There are 2 restaurants each less than a 5-10 minute walk if you prefer not to cook or purchase meals from the residents' shop. GETTING HERE: This private home is located within the property Finca El Tambor listed on Go.ogle Maps (we are NOT on Waze). As you arrive to the entrance of Finca El Tambor, park at the pila or in the carpark. The carpark is located just a few meters from the finca entrance, is an external service and cost 75Q overnight (be aware they accept only cash). Enter Finca El Tambor on foot following the concrete road downwards. At the end of the concrete section is the residential accommodation entrance where you will see signposts to Catarata. Follow the signposts! Arrival and checkin directions are given with photos within your AirBnB booking. We do not allow children & are an adult only location. Before booking, here are 3 THINGS PEOPLE LOVE about Casa Catarata: 1 - THE VIEWS of the volcanoes and the valley are simply spectacular. 2 - THE COMFORT of being in the middle of the mountain and enjoying all the amenities offered by a modern home is a unique experience. We have put a lot of effort, time and love into the construction and decoration of the place, which will make you feel at home during your entire stay. 3 - CONNECTING with nature yourself will complete your enjoyment of Casa Catarata! Here are 4 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting Casa Catarata: 1 - LOCATION. We are located in the mountains above Antigua approximately 10 minutes by car from Antigua under normal traffic conditions. 2 - ACCESS to the property is by foot on a part-dirt (municipal land that connects to our great road) track. From your car, you will need to walk approximately 150 m downhill. If you bring heavy suitcases and lots of stuff, you will have to carry it all down & up the hill. It is better to travel light with a backpack or bags without wheels! Think glamping! 3 - FOOD including homemade meals to go and snacks are available in our shop. 4 - PARKING is a few minutes walk up/down a private road to your home. You cannot park directly at your home as it is accessed via a pedestrianised path. Please pack using soft backs or backpacks instead of suitcases with wheels as the terrain can be tricky for wheels. Parking is free for residents of stays of 28 nights or more. Parking for short stay guests is free on-street parking subject to availability on arrival or paid parking in the local carpark next door (q75 in cash to the owner per 24 hours of your parking stay). Strong free wifi is available on the Co-working terrace should you need internet or to work there. We do not guarantee wifi in individual accommodations although the connection may be strong enough there too for internet access.
