Description

Beautiful 2-story villa in Agios Ioannis, on Eastern slope of Pelion mountain. Slate roof, stone floors throughout, including huge veranda with unobstructed view of the Aegean sea. Sleeps up to 10 people. Lush garden with fruit trees. Short walk to the beach via shortcut on fairly steep mountain path/stairs, otherwise accessible by road. A true gem in a relatively undiscovered part of Greece, with endless mountain trails , picturesque villages, and the most beautiful beaches in the country. The space Built in 2000, this is a well-maintained 2-story villa constructed in the traditional style of Pelion mountain. The house has stone flooring throughout, except in the bathrooms which have ceramic tiles. Magnificent views of the sea and lush gardens, with sounds of the waves and cicadas (in the summer months). Upstairs, there is one bedroom available (queen bed) that opens to a balcony of gardenias, a full bath, kitchen, large living/dining room (with cable TV, wifi, and Netflix) and a large picture window overlooking the Aegean sea and gardens below. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms (queen beds) which open up to the garden/sea views, a full bath, and family room with TV and DVD player. The family room has 2 single sofa beds each with a trundle bed underneath, which means 4 can sleep in this room. Additional single beds are available upon request. All bedrooms open up to a veranda or the garden. There is an additional half-bath outside, most accessible via the family room, and a separate private outdoor shower-- perfect for after the beach, and to accommodate multiple guests. Upstairs, off the kitchen and living/dining room, is the large veranda that is the only place to be in the summer time, which includes a stone-built barbecue available for use. There is a laundry machine available, and a line and foldable clothes drying rack for hanging clothes outside. There is a clothes dryer for emergencies and rainy weather, but it has low drying capacity, so it's recommended to use the rack inside in case of rain. The host and his family spend several months of the year in the house, so it is fully equipped with kitchen supplies and utensils, towels, bedding, books, board games, including children's books and beach toys. The total size of the fully furnished villa is 160 square meters hosted in a land of 2,500 square meters. The surrounding gardens are catered all year around. Parking is available on the premises. The beach is a short 8 min walk down the cobblestone path adjacent to the property, followed by stairs down to the main boardwalk of restaurants/hotels/bakeries and the main beach of Ag. Ioannis. The path can be steep so hold onto railings when available. One of our favorite beaches is Plaka beach, but it requires a scramble over the boulders north of the port. Papa Nero is a lovely beach also walkable to the south about 20 minutes by foot along the boardwalk (go down to Agios Ioannis and keep walking to the right, past the camping facilities, and you'll find Papa Nero. Plaka would require taking a left and taking the path past the small port.) Other driveable must-see beaches include Milopotamos (about 40 min) and Ag. Saranta, among others. Walking paths and hikes abound, as well, a favorite is a short hike to the picturesque village of Damouchari, also by the sea. Guest access The entire property and premises are yours during your stay, aside from one bedroom (the host's) upstairs and certain closets that remain locked with personal items. Guests are welcome to any produce from the productive garden, depending on the season (lemons, figs, pears, peaches, plums, etc). Other things to note You can visit the remarkable pebbled and sandy beaches in Agios Ioannis, Damouhari (a lot of scenes of Mama Mia were shot there), Plaka, Papa Nero. You can also visit the picturesque villages of Mouresi, Tsangarada, and Kissos and taste the traditional and unique dishes in outdoor tavernas. There are many restaurants and tavernas along the boardwalk in Agios Ioannis also. The list to See, Do and Feel in Pelion is enormous. The ideal climate is another reason visitors choose Pelion as they can enjoy a lovely Greek sunny Summer without feeling distressed by experiencing unbearable heat waves.
