Description

Wintersweet Cottage (C1798) is set in the picturesque village of Osmington 3 miles from the beautiful sandy beach of Weymouth. Tucked away in a private drive with only 3 other thatched cottages it's a haven of tranquillity surrounded by stunning walks along the Jurassic Coast or up to the famous White Horse of Osmington on your doorstep A courtyard with BBQ is the perfect place to relax on a summer's eve after a walk, a trip to Lulworth Cove or any of the other delights that Dorset offers The space Wintersweet Cottage was built in 1798 and is Grade two listed. It's tucked away up a private lane/driveway with 3 other thatched cottages and has some lovely features typical of a cottage of this age. Beamed ceilings wonky floors and low doorways are par for the course and there's an impressive Inglenook as a feature in the cosy living room. There's a modern shower room downstairs and an upstairs cloakroom Outside is a private courtyard with a an umbrella canopy and barbecue. Although there are two double beds and a single in the two bedrooms, five adults may feel a little cramped. It's ideal if a couple want to have a child in their bedroom or to do as we do and accommodate two grandchildren, each in their own bed with one getting a double! At the bottom of Church Lane is the walk up to the "Dorset Ridgeway" where the famous White Horse of Osmington is carved into the hillside. Walk in the other direction and within in a mile you're on the stunning Jurassic coastal path from Weymouth to Lulworth and beyond. If walking isn't your thing, you can explore Weymouth with it's famous sandy beach, donkeys and amusements and also lanes with quirky shops and the wonderful quay and it's hostelries. There are a host of attractions throughout the local area from dinosaur museums to the swannery at Abbotsbury and of course the county town of Dorchester only 7 miles away. Guest access The whole cottage, its courtyard and garden are yours for the duration of your stay. As is the reserved parking space!
