The space 🍳 Kitchen To help you settle in, you'll be provided with a few breakfast basics to get you started on arrival, things like tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal, and more. After that, you're welcome to cater to your own needs using the fully equipped kitchen. Feel free to prepare meals, make tea or coffee, and make use of all the essentials. Facilities include: Toaster Panini maker Oven and hob Dishes, cookware, and utensils Half a fridge space allocated just for you We kindly ask that you leave everything as you found it, so it stays welcoming for everyone. 🛁 Upstairs Bathroom The family bathroom is located directly across from your room and is typically reserved for your exclusive use. On rare occasions it may be shared, but we’re happy to confirm this with you at the time of booking. Fresh towels and essential toiletries are provided in advance to ensure a comfortable stay. For longer stays, you’ll launder your own towels and bed linen. Extra linen and towels will be provided. 🛏️ Upstairs Bedroom: Your private room includes: A smart TV with Google Chromecast for streaming local channels & Rakuten movies and TV series Your own room & house key Small desk and chair on request (can be in the hall outside the room or within the room) Bedside locker with lamp Hair dryer Generous wardrobe space 📝 If you have any special requests or need particular provisions, just let me know when enquiring—I’ll do my best to accommodate. 🏠 Household We work from home during the day, so we kindly ask guests to be mindful of noise during working hours. That said, feel free to continue using the kitchen and shared areas throughout the day, we want you to feel comfortable and at ease. Guest access During your stay, you’ll have full access to: - Your private bedroom with locking door - The designated family bathroom (exclusively for your use) - Shared kitchen for preparing meals and drinks - Washing machine and line-drying facilities & powder/conditioner - Half a fridge space and full use of cookware, dishes, and utensils - Back garden with a bistro set, perfect for outdoor dining when/if the weather cooperates We kindly ask that shared spaces are left tidy for everyone’s comfort. Other things to note TRAVEL ASSISTENCE 🚉 By Train Direct service from Dublin Heuston Station to Portlaoise via Irish Rail Journey time: ~1 hour 10 minutes Trains depart more or less hourly, pre-book online for best fares Most Irish Rail services operate between 6:00 AM and midnight, with the last trains from Dublin typically departing around 11:30 PM. There are no scheduled intercity or commuter trains during the late-night hours. Note: There is no direct train from Dublin Airport, so a bus directly to Portlaoise is recommended. 🚌 By Bus From Dublin Airport (Zone 16), hourly service available 24 hours a day Take either: Dublin Coach (Green Bus) Route 726 to Portlaoise General Hospital Stop JJ Kavanagh service (often fewer stops between Dublin and Portlaoise) to Portlaoise General Hospital Stop Journey time: ~1 hour 50 minutes +- Fares: approx. €10–16—check bus websites for up-to-date pricing and stop options 🚗 By Car Driving from Dublin Airport or city centre takes ~1 hour 30 minutes via the M7 motorway 🗺️ If I’m available at your arrival or departure time, I’ll gladly offer a lift to or from the local train station or bus stop—just let me know in advance. Otherwise, we’re conveniently located: 10-minute walk from the Portlaoise Hospital Bus Stop 40-minute walk or short taxi ride from the train station If you'd like help planning your route or finding the best option from your starting point, I'm more than happy to assist. Request Eir Code for Google Maps before your expected arrival. 🕰️ Arrival & Departure Times Standard check-in is from 5:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM. That said, I aim to be flexible whenever possible! If the room isn't being vacated or rebooked the same day, I’m often happy to offer earlier check-in or later check-out. Just send a quick message with your plans—I’ll do my best to accommodate. For same-day bookings, please allow for preparation time to ensure the room and bathroom are fresh and ready for your stay. SMOKING: 🚭 Smoking Policy Out of respect for all guests and the space, strictly no smoking or vaping indoors. Outdoor smoking is allowed in the back garden, and ashtrays are available on request. Please be mindful, discarding cigarette butts around the property is not tolerated. PETS 🐾 Pet-Free Home (Mostly!) We don’t have pets of our own, but occasionally we care for our daughter’s older dog. He stays in his own outdoor accommodation and won’t be in shared spaces—most guests won’t even know he’s here.
