Interior design‍ While the main colour palette inside the apartments takes cues from the laid-back browns and greens of the Aura River, we're throwing in accent shades tied to Turku's iconic riverfront landmarks that give the city its unique flair. One such landmark is the Föri ferry, cruising since 1903 and still the hippest ride in Finland. And let's not forget Turku's official city mascot, Posankka (it's a Pigduck!), created by Alvar Gullichsen, which brings a splash of pink to the scene. This funky, hybrid statue floated into town via the river on May 1, 1999, and is now located near the Turku University campus. When it comes to design, we're drawing inspiration from the functionalism of the 1920s and 1930s, where comfort takes priority and every corner feels like home. We’re set in the famous Affärscentrum, also known as “Vanun Talo” or the Cotton Wool House, a nod to its major tenant, a fully woman-led textile company “Oy Turun Vanu” until the 1950s. Constructed in two phases, in 1921 and 1926, the building showcases unique architectural features, including varying floor levels. Recently restored to its former glory, the building’s facade renovation was completed in early 2024, earning the title “Queen of the Marketplace” among locals.
