The Cabin of Greenland

A lovely private place with its own garden to completely unwind. The Cabin of Greenland is a modern wooden house. Built in 2020 and located on our family property with monumental barn from 1640. From your own garden or through the large windows you can see the sun rise, you have a view of the bulb fields, old North Holland mills and around you you experience the lively nature. You are surrounded by greenery and the cheerful presence of various animals that sometimes come by for a while. The space The Cabin of Groenland is located at the back of our property. You have your own parking space with entrance to the Cabin with private garden. Here you have all the space to make yourself comfortable and enjoy the outdoors. With seating in various places. Make your tea with fresh herbs from the garden, make a campfire under the starry sky, or relax on the veranda with a good book and a glass of wine.  The Cabin is furnished as a comfortable home and has all the comforts.  There is a nice sitting area with lounge sofa, where you can relax by the fireplace or in front of the TV. High-speed WiFi. A bathroom with rain shower and toilet with bidet.  On the sleeping loft, you can lie down in a king size bed at the end of the day. Also there is an extra room with a bunk bed. Bedding and towels are included.  -Heating- For the colder periods of the year, the Cabin has full underfloor heating (adjustable via the thermostat) and there is a wood-burning stove that can warm up the Cabin in no time. Wood is sufficiently available. -Cooking- Breakfast is not offered during the stay. There is a well-equipped kitchen (including luxury oven/microwave/air fryer combination, 1-burner induction hob, toaster, refrigerator and freezer) to prepare your own meals. You can of course also choose to cook outside over the campfire. Separate supplies are available for this, such as a large pan, a grate and a grill plate. The water from the tap is clean and safe drinking water. It is also lime-free.   -Sustainable- All the supplies in the house, such as toilet paper, shower and hand soap, dishwashing liquid, etc. are all biodegradable.  We always provide sufficient supplies, so please do not use your own products that are not biodegradable. The Cabin has 19 solar panels, which allows us to generate a large amount of electricity. For the rest, we collect rainwater from the roof for watering the garden.  - Environment - Our Cabin can be found in the quiet and wide head of Noord-Holland. 7.5 km away (10 minutes by car) is the North Sea coast, where you can enjoy the sea and hike and bike in the dunes. The nearest supermarket is 2.5 km away, and the center of Schagen, with many shops, cafes and restaurants, is 9 km away. Beautiful nature reserves to discover in the region are: Zwanenwater, Donkere Duinen, Kooibosch, Zandpolder and Wildrijk. You can also take the ferry from Den Helder for a trip to Texel. Be sure to bring your binoculars and bird guide, because you will be amazed! In the spring, you will be amazed by the rich colors of the flowering bulb fields in the area. Guest access Upon arrival, we will be happy to welcome you personally, to get acquainted and to guide you to the Cabin. The space with garden is entirely at your disposal. Would you like to walk around the yard to visit the animals in the meadow in front of the farm or the ducks and chickens? Then that's no problem, of course. In the yard (towards the bulb fields) there is also a lawn that guests can use for free, including the play equipment. Such as a soccer goal with balls, badminton set, a big trampoline and more. Kids love it! Feel free to ask us about it. The remaining space (separate from the public path) on the farmyard is for our own use and not intended for guests. Other things to note On the common yard, sweet dogs, cats, chickens, walking ducks, sheep, pot-bellied pigs and many other (wild) animals live in harmony with each other. During the day, work is sometimes done on the land or in the yard and/or in the barn. Breakfast is not offered during the stay. Tourist tax is not included in the price. We are happy to collect this at check-out or earlier if desired. There are two (normal) bicycles with gears available free of charge to use during the stay. Also there is a Canadian Kayak free to use for sailing in the region.
