Hide-a-way Farmhouse Apartment-Pet Friendly-horses
Looking for a place to getaway to the country yet be just 10-30 minutes from all the amenities of the City? Come stay with us! You can sit back and take it easy at our unique and tranquil getaway. Our 2 bdrm/1 bath apartment has a Farmhouse theme and is all yours! You will have your own private entrance, fenced yard with BBQ and patio area with table and chairs. We are located on 10 acres with trails and quiet gravel road for walking and exploring. We also offer horseback riding! The space Our Hide-a-way is our home and we feel we have a beautiful spot on this earth that we want to share with people. I live on the property and will make sure you have my number to text/call if you need anything. We are available if needed, but give our guest their privacy. We welcome visitors and consider anyone that visits our friends. We're sure you'll love it and we'll do everything we can to make your STAYCATION the best! We look forward to having you as our guest! We are closer to the Town of Snead (about 10 minutes) although Altoona is our actual address. We are on Kornegay Loop, which is a circle gravel road off the paved road, Mt. Carmel Road. On this Loop there is only one other house (it is set way back off the Loop), which you cannot see from our property. We are surrounded by all kinds of trees and small streams. The Loop is great for walking and biking. Our 10 acre property has trees and trails. There is a small pond (no fish yet!). The horses have made trails all through the property . . . there is a Hickory Nut Tree grove with old rocks, bamboo grove, endless Muscadines, blackberries, and honeysuckle. It is very peaceful and private - great for bird watching and listening to them sing. For those looking for more of a workout walk/bike ride with hills, at the end of our loop begins Brazel Mill Road. It is a winding gravel road that is 2.5 miles long down the side of our small mountain - the return trip is all up hill! We welcome your well-mannered and controllable pets! We offer horseback riding. Guest access Our guests are free to roam our property, pet the horses (they LOVE carrots!), and walk all around the area. The Farmhouse apartment has 2 bedrooms and one bath. You enter through your private entrance into the living room which has a sleeper futon couch that makes out into a double/full size bed. To the left is Bedroom 1 which has a queen size bed. To the right up the 3 stairs is the kitchen, dining and desk area. The kitchen has microwave, toaster oven, 2 burner electric stove top, electric skillet, coffee maker, Keurig, blender, mixer, pots & pans, plates, silverware, utensils, baking pans and serving bowls. We provide coffee, creamer, sugar, olive oil, baking spray, S & P, garlic powder. Please bring your own coffee pods if you want to use the Keurig. The fridge has a freezer with ice trays. It is an apartment size fridge. From the kitchen/dining area you enter the bathroom or bedroom 2. There is a door from bedroom 2 into the bathroom. The bathroom has a shower/tub. There is a blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, mini first aide supplies, towels, & washcloths. Outside is a private fenced yard for your furry friends. Also, a covered patio area that has a gas BBQ, high-top dining table and 4 chairs. Just outside your yard is a firepit (we provide firewood - if it has been raining the wood will be wet). You may want to bring lighter fluid and folding chairs for the firepit. Other things to note We offer horseback lessons/rides at $40 per person or $30 pp for more than one person or ride - young kids are less. Horse 101: Introduction to horses where you learn to handle, groom and tack your horse. Next you learn to ride at the walk, trot & canter/lope in our round pen area. We end with a walk around the Loop. This usually takes 1 hr- 1.5 hrs. We customize the lesson/ride for you. We also offer just grooming and being around the horses for $20. I've had horses all my life and have a lifetime of experience to share with you. My youngest student started at age 4 and my oldest student, to date, was a 75 yr old man recovering from a stroke whom needed to relearn balance and confidence when riding. I began training horses in high school and taught Therapeutic horseback riding to people with disabilities for many years. If you've always wanted to experience a horse or need a refresher course I'd love to share these special magnificent creatures with you!
