Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway with direct access to a hot tub, garden and outdoor dining area. You will have the whole log cabin to yourself set within the back garden of the owner's adjacent home which is located in the beautiful setting of Constable country. Ideally suited for people that want to get away for a bit of peace and quiet or to do some walking, cycling and visit local historic sites. The space The pine cabin is set within the owner's large garden which backs onto a vineyard and is in the middle of the peaceful Dedham vale countryside. When you enter the cabin there is a living space with a sofa bed, table, chairs, church pew for more seating, storage and mini-fridge. Through a door from here you will find the kitchenette, bedroom, and toilet/ shower room. The kitchenette has a sink and boiler for hot/ cold water, cupboard space, kettle, toaster, and combined air fryer/ grill/ microwave oven. There is crockery, glasses, mugs, utensils and basic cooking equipment. (Including an egg poacher for the microwave if you want to try some 'fresh from the hen' eggs for breakfast!) On arrival you find a supply of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and granola. If there is anything else you need for cooking- just ask as we are likely to have it available in the house for you to use. The bedroom has a double bed with memory foam mattress with pillows, duvet and extra cover. There are pegs and hangers as well as a set of drawers for your clothes and space under the bed to keep your luggage. There is also bedside table and lamp, mirror and shelf. The toilet/ shower room is next to the kitchenette and bedroom. The toilet operates on a macerator system so cannot cope with anything other than the normal human waste! Please only use the toilet paper provided (ask the owner for more if you need it) and use the bin provided for anything else (including sanitary towels/ tampons, wet wipes etc). To operate the shower just press and hold the on button in the centre to start the water. You should not need to adjust the temperature or pressure settings. We will provide you with a large and medium towel for each guest. Just outside the door of the cabin is an outside sitting/ eating area with sofa and table and chairs. There is a stone fire pit which also doubles up as a bar-b-cue. There is a wood shed near the side of the house to access logs for the fire pit, however please bring your own coals if you plan to use it as a bbq. The hot tub is located to the side of the cabin, with chairs, a place to hang towels, and a bar to serve drinks from. Please do also feel free to explore and enjoy the 300ft garden during your stay. If you would like to use any herbs or veg from the garden please do just ask and I can point you to the ones that are ready for picking. If you need any garden games or a place to securely store bicycles please just ask. The area is a great place to explore by foot along the Essex away, or on a bike (and we often get cycle clubs and national races pass through nearby!) There is also a vineyard that backs onto the garden that does tasting tours, (Dedham Vale Vineyard). Guest access On arrival we recommend you drive front ways onto the drive and park the front of your car by the wall- this will give you space to reverse in the drive and drive out of the property front first! The cabin is through the gate by the side of the house, past the shed and under the pergola on the right hand side of the garden. In addition to the hot tub which is located next to the cabin, you have free access to the 300ft garden which includes a lawn area for playing games, a small orchard, a wild pond area as well as the space where the chickens are allowed to peck about and roam. Other things to note The property is a great place to get away and enjoy some peaceful countryside with great walks and cycle routes to explore if you fancy a bit of activity! A short drive away there is plenty to do and see with easy access to the Northern Gateway (including cycle tracks, food outlets, and sports facilities), the city, arts galleries, music venues, Colchester zoo, and local historical sites such as Colchester castle or Constable Country (where ‘The Haywain’ was painted). We are also near the coast, and beautiful rivers for kayaking and paddle boarding. If you need any recommendations or information about the local area, just ask the owner who would be happy to guide you. PLACES TO EAT There are a good range of local cafes including at Fillpots garden centre and Pantry 61 on Boxted Straight Road, or Harper’s Café located next to Boxted village hall and playing field. If you take a walk through the walnut orchard you can get to The Revival which serves pub drinks (you need to check opening times; it has rather a low key local feel to it as it’s an old war air raid shelter!) There is also The Shepherd and Dog at Langham which serves pub food and drinks. A bit further afield is the Three Horseshoes pub at Fordham who serve excellent food and also have a coffee shack which serves the most amazing bacon crobuns. We would also recommend going to Coleman’s butchers on Langham Road for barbecue meats and veg supplies. If you go to the end of the road and down Burnt Dick Hill (yes that is it’s real name) this will take you to the A134 with the adjacent Nayland and Stoke by Nayland villages nearby. There is a cafe/deli and the riverside Anchor pub in Nayland. In Stoke by Nayland there is the gastro Crown pub and The Angel for fine dining. If you head towards Dedham there are a range of cafes, restaurants, and pubs of varying price ranges; from fine dining by the river at Le Talbooth, to The Sun Inn (gastro pub) to The Marlborough (pub grub). The National Trust tea room at Flatford (down the river from Dedham) is a place to go if you want to soak in some history of Constable country whilst sipping a cuppa. You can even get there by hiring a rowing boat from Dedham (or vice versa)! There is also the Northern gateway as you head toward the city with a range of fast food outlets. In the city there is lots to choose from. If you let me know what you are in the mood for I can give some recommendations. If you love craft beer I would check out Two Brews located near the Mercury Theatre, or Three Wise Monkeys on the High Street which serves food and a good range of drinks. Our family favourite for food is North Hill Noodle Bar or Bella Pais if you want a steak- you will need to book! *NEW FOR 2026* We are now on fibre broadband. The WiFi in the cabin is on a WiFi extender from the main house. If you have any issues please let me know.
