Description

High above the Wye Valley in the heart of the Peak District, this modernised 19th century mill worker's cottage is surrounded by acres of White Peak farmland. 1x double & 1x twin rooms sleeps 4. A sofa bed is also available at £40 per stay. Up here the weather can be exhilarating, but so are the stunning views over Miller’s Dale. On calm days hear larks and curlews in the surrounding fields. Walk straight from the door into a landscape rich in wildflowers, birds, geology and history The space Self contained, self catering accommodation over 3 floors. 3 New Houses comfortably sleeps 4 and can sleep up to 6 if the sofa bed is used. Please note that if all three bedrooms are used there is a £40 per stay surcharge. Please let us know when booking. Bedroom 1 on the first floor has a double bed, wardrobes and drawers and an en suite shower room with WC. Bedroom 2 on the top floor has two single beds, wardrobe and drawers. It is served by a separate shower-room. Bedroom 3 on the first floor has a double sofa bed and can be used as an additional sitting room (please let us know if you want to use the sofa bed). There is space in the bedrooms to put up a travel cot which you are welcome to bring. We have a baby bath and highchair. The kitchen is well equipped including a washing machine and dishwasher. We now have a small fridge/freezer. There is a small conservatory/large porch which is great for sitting in to eat on a sunny day and also use for storing muddy boots or drying washing. The sitting/dining room has 2 sofas, dining table seating 4/5 and TV so guests can enjoy a cosy evening around the wood burning stove. All rooms are heated with electric night storage heaters. Electricity, Logs for 2 nights, Bedlinen (duvets) and Towels are included in the rental. A basic stock of essentials (tea, coffee, milk and sugar, condiments, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc) will be provided on arrival. Outside, stone steps go down to a paved back garden overlooking open fields (garden furniture is available for sunny days). Parking is available for one car in the courtyard next door at the owners ’ house, a second car can be parked in front of No 3. Bicycles can be stored in the owners’ garage. Please note there are no toilet or sleeping facilities on the ground floor and the stairs are steep and narrow. The paved back garden is accessed via steep stone steps with no hand rail. The paved back garden is accessed via steep stone steps. Other things to note 3 New Houses is isolated, being approximately 1 mile in each direction from the small villages of Cressbrook and Litton. There are some buses at Litton but the The nearest train station (Grindleford) is a good 15 mins drive, Buxton is 20 mins but more likely to have taxis. Please be prepared for quiet! We do ask that our guests are mindful of our neighbours with regard to noise and in particular to ensure that they don't park in front of our neighbour's house.
