Description
Suite Cardón is a stand-alone unit featuring rammed earth walls, a generous indoor-outdoor en suite bathroom, a work area, a large closet and wardrobe, and two twin beds that can be moved side-by-side to form a king-size bed that encourages more restful sleep than a fully shared bed. We designed much of the property to utilize passive cooling with sustainability in mind, so this suite stays lovely and cool. It has a ceiling fan to keep it fresh and breezy during the warmest months. The space Suite Cardón is one of 5 stand-alone rooms on the grounds of Casa Remanso, a modern home and retreat space featured in several architectural publications, including Architectural Digest. The property is fully integrated in its natural surroundings, having been designed around large boulders, tamarind trees, and a colossal 9-meter cardón cactus native to the site. The house features a semi-olympic length pool in which to refresh yourself or swim laps, and a peaceful garden for lounging about. Guest access Guests have access to the garden space, the pool, and the outdoor dining and lounging area by the pool. On weekends, we also provide an included continental breakfast for guests, featuring house-made breads, jams, granola, yogurt, and more. The area of the property that begins in the covered dining space is not available to guests; it is a private residence and only opened for special events. Other things to note ANIMAL LIFE: The house has two friendly dogs who may occasionally bark in greeting or curiosity, but are not at all aggressive. Because Casa Remanso is part of a rural village, there are properties nearby that have chickens and roosters, excitable dogs, the occasional goat, etc, so expect to be surrounded by the sounds of wildlife as well as farm animals. We provide complimentary silicon ear plugs in case some of the neighboring roosters decide pipe up before your alarm goes off. PARKING: There isn’t official parking for the house, but there is safe and quiet street parking right in front of the private road that leads to the property. It’s a less than 50 meter walk from where you would park to the entrance of Casa Remanso. VISITORS: Since Casa Remanso is a private home in addition to being your retreat during your stay here, no visitors who aren’t part of the original reservation are permitted to enter the property. QUIET TIME: We request that for the comfort and rest of everyone, all guests honor the 10 pm [quiet time]. You are, of course, allowed to leave and enter during that time, just please try to keep noise to a minimum to honor your fellow guests. TOURS: We can help connect you with local agencies giving adventure and cultural tours of the area; experiences like bird watching, an epic trekking trip up the dormant volcano, hiking outings, and more are all available. KIDS: The property is not particularly kid-friendly, as there are a number of places that a small child can fall and hurt themselves. We highly recommend you take this into consideration as you make your reservation. CLIMATE: Our property has the benefit of a regular breeze and the shade of trees that helps keep it relatively cool, compared with the climate of Colima city or the coast. However, the overall climate of the region is semi-humid and tropical, which means that outside of the coolest months (December to mid-January), the nights stay warm enough where you will be fine wearing light pajamas
