Description
The Ultimate Luxe Nature Adventure! One of three exclusive camps nestled within Highwood Retreat's 160-acre wilderness. Solar-powered amenities, curated furnishings and treasures, exquisite linens, and breathtaking stars. Bring your beloved, your best friend, or your favorite book and get swept away in a world of romance and adventure. A stay at Highwood Retreat is a beautiful blend of rugged adventure and thoughtful luxury. The space The camps at Highwood Retreat are utterly unique and oozing with style. Designed for couples looking for a memorable experience, this is a destination in its own right. Featured in Boston Magazine as one of New England’s Best Glamping Spots (August 2024 issue). Our newest tent camp offers everything you need for a glamorous experience in the great outdoors - from a seasonal hot outdoor shower (May to October), to lounging in the canopy four-poster bed. From relishing the warmth of a roaring fire, whether inside by the wood-burning fireplace or outside at the fire pit, to indulging in a decadent cheese and charcuterie board delivered to your camp. In the winter we add two additional heaters and an electric mattress warmer so that the tent stays nice and cozy. The heated bathroom is located a few steps from the tent. Peeking out of your tent to glimpse the sunrise over the snowy glade feels like a small miracle. Bring your cozy sweaters and your sense of adventure and you'll be in for an experience you'll treasure forever. The Rugged Adventure Part: Please note that the camp does not have running water. The bathroom consists of a composting toilet (we are using The Separette which is a marvel and sanitized completely between guests) and a safari sink. We stock the bathroom sink, the tent, and the shower (available May-October) with plenty of water for guests to use during their stay. We are always happy to top up supplies as needed. There are no cooking facilities. Guests are encouraged to bring as much prepared food as they like and are welcome to bring take-out from one of our local restaurants back to camp. There is an electric kettle and pour-over coffee from our favorite local brand Rockingham Roasters. Feel free to bring supplies to cook outside on the fire pit. Most cell networks experience excellent service here. However there is no WiFi. Take the opportunity to truly unplug! We have enough electricity to charge your phones and devices but our battery system cannot support hot tools (hair dryers, curling irons, etc). The East Camp is a 4 minute walk from the parking area. We will shuttle you and your things for check-in and check-out. Make sure to pack appropriate footwear and outerwear for the walk back and forth. Guest access Highwood Retreat is a 160-acre property with woodland trails, wetlands, tunnels of trees, antique rock walls, and meandering paths. Guests have full access and are encouraged to explore. In addition to the private fire pit at the camp, guests are welcome to enjoy the large, communal fire pit located on the grounds. We live in the farmhouse at the entrance of the property and are available to assist guests at any time. Other things to note ***PRESS FOR HIGHWOOD RETREAT*** *BOSTON MAGAZINE- Best Glamping Spots in New England* “Featuring rolling green fields crisscrossed by trails, Highwood Retreat—the glamping spot they opened in 2022—was truly made with heart and soul.” *SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE: COOLEST TRIPS TO TAKE FROM NYC* "If you're looking for a real adventure, stay at Highwood Retreat, an experience like no other." *MATADOR NETWORK* "Even if you’ve been glamping before, nothing will prepare you for your first impression of the Highwood Retreat as you raise the heavy canvas tent flaps. You’re immediately struck by the sight of a queen-sized bed and two stuffed, velvety chairs. It feels as if you’ve just stepped through a portal into a luxury hotel or perhaps a classic novel. The hosts spared no expense toward making guests feel special, with furniture that reflects the glamor of the Gilded Age." *WEALTH OF GEEKS: THINGS TO DO IN VERMONT THIS WINTER* "...there’s no better place than Highwood Retreat. The safari-style tent is a one-of-a-kind experience and one you’ll treasure." *WE3TRAVEL* "It combines the design aesthetic and thoughtful touches of a boutique hotel with an off-grid peace and quiet." DOGS We love when guests bring their dogs as Highwood Retreat is a pup paradise! Feel free to let your dog off the leash to romp and play but please keep in mind that there is wildlife around so use your discretion. We are happy to set your pooch up with their own luxurious touches with a comfy dog bed and raised bowls for food and water and a large furry blanket for snuggling. We can also set up a gate for the deck. We ask that you do not leave your dog(s) unattended inside the tent if you leave the property. There is a $60 pet fee and a maximum of two dogs is allowed. BUGS Please come prepared with insect repellant and be mindful of ticks. Always check your body (and your dog's body!) for ticks. FOOTWEAR We have designed our grounds to give guests the experience of really getting away from it all. As mentioned, the camp is tucked into the corner of our secluded glade and is a 5-minute walk along a gravel path to the parking area. Please check the weather in advance of your visit and bring appropriate footwear. MOBILITY ISSUES If you or your partner have mobility issues and are concerned about the walk between the camp and the parking area, we are happy to offer our shuttle service for any trips you might be taking in addition to check-in and check-out. Let us know in advance and we can work out all the details and make the experience as seamless as possible. Please note that the tent is elevated and accessed via stairs. SPECIAL OCCASIONS It is always an honor when guests choose to celebrate a special occasion here. If you are looking to arrange any spectacular flourishes and extras, please get in touch. Believe us when we say romantic surprises are a specialty around here. We really know how to pull out all the stops. Let's collaborate!
