Les Hirondelles Marignac with private pool

Enjoy a relaxing escape at our 3-bedroom family home located in the heart of the Charente Maritime, in the tranquil village of Marignac. Les Hirondelles is a rustic retreat comfortably sleeping 6-8 guests, making it ideal for a family or a group of friends looking for a peaceful getaway. Relax and unwind by the private swimming pool in the large garden which enjoys the sun all day long, or enjoy meals al fresco on one of the terraces as you enjoy the picturesque and calm surroundings. The space Les Hirondelles, a traditional Charentais house full of character and rustic charm, is a much-loved family home having been in the family for over 50 years. The accommodation consists of 3 spacious double/twin bedrooms and a large private garden with swimming pool. ABOUT THE SPACE On the ground floor you’ll find the kitchen, a converted barn, which is a large and airy space designed in a typical Charentais farmhouse style. It has high ceilings with a dresser and kitchen table which can seat 6-8, and large windows that open onto the pool area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large Smeg dual range oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The large sitting room, with a comfy sofa bed and separate sofa and armchair, is next to the kitchen with a separate entrance from the terrace outside. It has aircon for the warmer summer days and a log burner for the cooler evenings. With newly installed WIFI there is also a partner desk with space to work if needed and a Smart TV which has access to freeview English speaking channels. (Logs for the wood burner can be made available at an additional charge). The sitting room leads onto the dining room, a peaceful cool space to enjoy reading through our extensive collection of books or doing one of our many puzzles. On the ground floor there is also a downstairs loo which serves as the laundry area with the washing machine conveniently located there. The 3 bedrooms located upstairs, are spacious and comfortable and all have traditional shutters to ensure a great night’s sleep. The large master bedroom has a king sized bed and a hand basin with beautiful views over the vineyards. Opposite, is a spacious twin room with 2 single beds which can be pushed together to form a double. Next to this room is another twin bedroom, suitable for children, equipped with 2 further single beds. The large bathroom has a bath, large walk-in shower, loo and hand basin. Also located in the bathroom is the tumble dryer. Lovely quality bed linen and towels are provided. Towels for the pool are optional, upon request, at a rate of €10 per person. We have a folding chair bed and an inflatable mattress which can accommodate additional guests in any of the bedrooms, in advance and at an additional cost. We can easily accommodate little ones of all ages. For babies we have playmats, a bouncer and a selection of toys. A cot and high chair are also available on request in advance, rented at the rate of 10€ per stay. Arrivals are from 4pm and checkouts before 10am. If we are able to accommodate, an early check-in or late departure can be arranged for an additional 50 Euros. THE LOCATION Marignac is a quiet village located in the heart of the Charente Maritime with a 12th century church, an award-winning boulangerie, and a recently renovated basketball court, small playground and area to enjoy pétanque. Located amongst the French countryside with beautiful walks through the vineyards on your doorstep, Marignac is conveniently located 8-10 minutes from the two historic towns of Pons and Jonzac with large shops and the weekly markets. During the summer months the night market is a great way to spend a summer’s evening enjoying live music and local produce in the many food stalls on offer. Other local attractions such as Cognac, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, the beaches of St Georges de Didonnes, Royan and Île de Ré are also within easy reach. The nearest airports are Bordeaux or La Rochelle both of which are around 1 hr 15mins drive from the village of Marignac. PROPERTIES WITH CHARACTER Les Hirondelles Marignac is well over 100 years old and is full of character. It was built long before the days of damp proofing and cavity walls so some may show signs of damp, particularly in long spells of wet weather. We will do our best to ensure that the house is kept aired sufficiently to compensate, even when the property is empty. If you have any concerns, please talk to us at the time of making your booking. Please also remember that properties in the countryside do attract spiders and therefore cobwebs (which can be spun almost as quickly as they have been cleaned away!). They aren't a sign that the house hasn't been cleaned. You may also notice the natural sounds and scents of rural life, which we see as part of the charm. Other things to note A security deposit is required. Pets are welcome at a small additional cost.
