Artist Balcony Apartment in historic palazzo

Former home of Todd Thomas Brown, an American artist who arrived in Fontecchio in 2019 to launch artist repopulation initiative, now known as "The Fontecchio International Airport." Part-time Airbnb, par-time artist residency, here is an apartment crafted with loving attention to detail, lighting, curated furnishings, adorned with original artwork, and with vaulted ceilings throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, oven, induction stove, and basic spices, coffee/tea, sugar, etc.. The walls of the elegantly styled living room feature an eclectic collection of original paintings and framed photographs related to other artistic works. The bedroom is bright and spacious, with a queen-size bed, private bathroom, southern exposure with a view of the Aterno valley ridge, and a balcony. The apartment opens onto a spacious courtyard that is shared by the other apartments. If weather permits, you're welcome to have your meals and morning coffee in the courtyard. It's a wonderful place to relax and, if you're lucky, you might hear the faint melodies of a trumpet when Andrea Carosa is practicing in his home on the hill above. You will also likely meet our cat Blu, and our dog, Mr. Bugsy (whose house is outside the main entrance). Both are gentle and full of sweetness. Guest access Entrance to the apartment is found within the interior courtyard, which is accessed through the main arched entrance with the big wooden doors (seen in the photos). Self check-in is accessed by using the security key box outside the main doors. You will have a key to the main doors as well as a key to your apartment (instructions for this are included in the welcome email for guests). In addition to the apartment, you are free to use the interior courtyard to enjoy meals when weather permits. Other things to note Some Extras: We have a single mattress available should there be need for an additional guest. Both Todd and Fabrizio speak Italian and English (Todd also speaks Spanish). TANGO: Todd has danced tango for over 25 years and taught professionally in San Francisco for a number of years. However, he is only in Fontecchio part-time, but if he's there then there's a good possibility to arrange private lessons with him. ARTWORK: Should you be interested in purchasing artwork, please let us know.
