Herdwick Hut, The Hideaway

The off grid Solar powered Shepherd Hut is nestled in one of our fields. A unique space where you can get away, relax, unwind and switch off from your busy lives. The space The Herdwick is a bright, airy and relaxing space where you can totally unwind and reset from your busy lives. We suggest not bringing laptops, ipads or other electronic devices. Fully emerse yourself in off grid living. We have had many guests come to the hut on a writers retreat, artists wanting to craft and painters sketching the landscape. A king sized bed, kitchenette with a coolbox and 2 ring gas hob. There is no fridge or oven as you're off grid 😊 Dining table for two which can be folded down. Bathroom with hot water shower, sink and composting toilet. Sorry boys sit down wee's only! There is an outdoor space just outside your hut. Enjoy an evening watching the sunset or listening to the wildlife. The hut is powered by solar, there is no WiFi in the hut. We provide you with a separate power pack to charge your mobile phones. The hut has salt, pepper, spray oil, tea, coffee, sugar and long life milk pots to get you started. Guest access Parking for the huts is at the entrance of The Hideaway in a designated parking space for your hut. 1 space. Collect a wheelbarrow from the parking area to transport your luggage through the fields to your hut. A good pair of shoes is essential as you will be walking through a field into the Shepherd's Hut meadow. If your staying with us April- May a pair of Wellie boots may be beneficial. Other things to note There is no WiFi at the hut. The Hut has a coolbox, no fridge or oven. You're off grid living! We do provide a small power bank/pack for you to charge your phones, it will provide enough power to charge 2 phones once. If you have your own your welcome to bring it aswell. We switch these out for fully charged packs every morning. The Hut is off grid and powered by solar, if you do use all your battery power we can charge the battery. However this can take upto 3 hours to fully charge. The majority of guests have no issues for a 2/3 night stay as long as the sun is shining the battery will recharge itself ☀️. There is a torch in the hut but if you're arriving late please bring your own. The Hideaway has 2 huts and a cottage on site. Please be considerate to other guests and keep noise to a minimum so everyone can enjoy their stay. You will have the code to open it if you are leaving early or arriving back late. Please lock the gate behind you.
