The Barracks Cottage The space The Barracks Cottage is perched atop the hills of Vernor, Queensland on 10 acres. Approximately 1 hour from Brisbane CBD, 20 minutes from Ipswich and two hours from the Gold and Sunshine Coast. Nestled amongst the Melaleuca and Eucalyptus trees is our quaint one bedroom, one bathroom renovated cottage. Whether you’re looking for a romantic couples escape or a cozy getaway for you and a good friend, The Barracks is sure to entertain your needs. Offering a fully self-contained kitchen with a gas stove, oven, air fryer, microwave, coffee pod machine, kettle and toaster. The bedroom hosts a comfortable queen bed, and ensuite with the shower overlooking the paddock and an eco loo. Lounge inside on the couch and read a book or play a board game with the air conditioning on. Alternatively, get outdoors and enjoy watching the abundant birdlife or sunset on your private deck. You also have a private fire pit to light up and enjoy. Don’t forget to look up while you’re here, because we’re away from the hustle and bustle and lights, so star gazing on a clear night is absolutely mesmerizing. If you’re really lucky you might spot one of our resident koalas in the trees. If you’re looking for more action then the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is practically at your doorstep so you can ride until your heart is content, or visit Wivenhoe Dam. There are also local weekend markets, coffee shops, and restaurants nearby. We are a working hobby farm with two cows, two dogs, 10 or so ducks and a handful of chickens so at times there will be farm animal noise. You are more than welcome to explore our 10 acres or sit and observe the magnificent view from the front yard, please just remember that we are here too, so you might see us around, rest assured we’re a friendly bunch. We supply: Milk, salt/pepper, oil, baking paper/alfoil. Please note: Country living comes with wildlife, insects, sometimes snakes, the occasional spider web, barbed wire etc. We make every effort to ensure the property is safe and spotlessly clean, but you may encounter these things.
