The house sits on a quiet corner lot three blocks off Route 66, blending a 1940s character with recent updates. Guests consistently note the calm streets and family-friendly feel in reviews. **Getting Around** Central location with easy access to downtown, the University of Tulsa, and local freeways, so drives to major spots are short. Expo Square is a few blocks away, downtown is roughly 4 miles, and the University of Tulsa is about 2 miles. On-site parking includes a covered carport and a long driveway for two vehicles, plus plenty of street parking for extra cars. **Dining & Cafés** Nearby shopping and quick dining are within walking distance for convenient meals and errands — Target, Reasor’s Grocery Store, Starbucks, and Dunkin are in the same complex about 0.6 miles away. For more food options, Mother Road Market (a large food hall) is about 2.6 miles and Cherry Street’s restaurants and photo spots are roughly 3 miles. Quirks of a 1940’s home. While you’ll see new throughout the house, we’ve also kept some of the home's original charm and quirks. The original hardwood floors tilt but be assured, the foundation was lifted and fully reinforced in 2024. There are plenty of built-ins. We’ve added Route 66 memorabilia for our guests to enjoy. Guest access Self check-in via keypad for easy, flexible arrivals; once inside you’ll have access to the entire house and the fenced backyard with patio seating, rocking chairs, grill, games and a fire pit for evening gatherings. Parking is on the property with a covered carport and a long driveway that fits two vehicles, plus plenty of street parking on both sides of the house. A few owner areas are off-limits: the locked closet in the queen bedroom (a second closet in the queen bedroom is available for guests), a locked cupboard in the carport, and the exterior shed . Original wooden front door swells in heat/humidity and needs an extra shove after the keypad indicates it’s unlocked; lock instructions and backup entry methods are provided in the house notes. Other things to note The front door is the original wooden door. It swells when there is heat and humidity. It can make it tricky to open, shut and lock the door. OPEN/UNLOCK - watch for the blue check mark. When the lock mechanism stops making noise and you see the blue check mark, the door should be unlocked. You may need to give it a shove to get it open after it’s unlocked. LOCK - if the door makes several beeps and you see a Red ❌ , it is NOT locked. If the door makes a longer beep and you see a Blue Checkmark, you’ve successfully locked the door. We have backup methods to get in if the door completely fails! The house has central AC with the coil replaced recently, it's running great! During the heat of the summer, the house stays coolest without strain on the AC unit when you bring the house to your ideal temperature after dark and maintain that temperature. Keeping the blackout curtains closed during peak sunshine also helps. In addition to the ceiling fan in the living room, there are portable fans in the closets of the Queen Bedroom, Bunk Bedroom and Game Rooms. NOTE: The thermostat has been locked at 69 degrees with AC. If your personal preference is colder, just let us know and we can lower it another degree or two. Thank you!
