Other things to note Please let us know in advance if you are visiting with your furry friend :) OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Notice of Natural Phenomena in the Tropical Forest Environment of Costa Rica Guests are hereby advised that the following natural occurrences are characteristic of the tropical forest environment and may be experienced during their stay: Monkeys Three species of monkeys are native to Costa Rica. Multiple troops inhabit the surrounding area and may traverse the property from time to time. These animals may produce elevated levels of vocalization, particularly during early morning and late afternoon hours. Annual Land Crab Migration With the onset of the seasonal rains each year, millions of land crabs migrate from inland areas toward the coastline to deposit their eggs. While this is a notable natural phenomenon, the volume of crabs may result in their presence on roadways. Guests are required to exercise caution when driving and to remain mindful of the importance of respecting local wildlife. Ants and Other Insects The rainforest ecosystem sustains a high level of insect biodiversity, including numerous species of ants and termites. During periods of rainfall, ants may enter interior or sheltered areas in search of dry conditions. Food residue or exposed food items may also attract them. In general, these ants are non-aggressive and do not pose a biting risk. They may be effectively managed with standard insect control products, such as Baygon insecticide spray, which is available upon request. Additionally, very small ants—informally referred to as “cleaner ants”—may be observed. These insects rapidly collect and remove food particles and contribute to the natural sanitation of the environment. Guests are expected to acknowledge and respect the ecological conditions inherent to this environment. Your cooperation is appreciated.
