Bridge Cottage, Kensaleyre

The cottage has a rich history. previously a dance hall and meeting place for the Home guard in World war 2. It was home to the estate manager for the neighbouring MacDonald estate, before coming into private ownership . This cottage will give you a warm & tight hug when you return each day from your outdoor adventures. Please note, the upstairs in coombed ( Low sloped ceilings) The second room is set up as a dressing room. No Children or infants due to fire safety. 2 able Adults only sorry. The space There is a small double bedroom upstairs at one end and a small room opposite, which I have set up as a dressing room. Downstairs, there is a bathroom with over-bath-shower, a fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and a living room. It is important to note that the cottage is a traditional Skye crofter's cottage with coombed ceilings upstairs and a narrow staircase. This means that the ceilings are sloped upstairs. My husband and I lived in it for 5 years, and we bumped our heads a few times. Despite that, it is a lovely space and has a peaceful warm atmosphere which embraces you. I would say it is not suitable for children or the elderly and definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Please feel free to contact me for more details. We are still doing some work in the grounds to improve the garden, as the weather and time allows, and I will put the outside bins down onto the main road for collection weekly. Different colour bin collected each week. Other things to note Not suitable for Elderly with mobility issues, Children or infants due to the nature of the building. Narrow staircase and limited floor space, means that there is no room for travel cots or High chairs etc and would not be suitable to cram those in for fire safety. Low sloping ceilings, bathroom on ground floor, bedroom upstairs. Mobile reception on the Island can be patchy, depending on your provider. Reception at Bridge cottage is possible in the Boot Room. I leave my phone on the Boot room window sill and can make and receive calls there with ease. Wifi is available for Whats-App calls . If you want to see Highland cows, there are some near where I live.. They are owned by my neighbour and they are used to visitors coming to see them. I will leave details in the cottage for you. Be aware that my reviews before May 2024 are all based on guest experience at my previous listing, which was called The Gatehouse. It was a bigger property and cannot be compared to Bridge Cottage.
