Bright airy cottage w/ lake view

Chickadee cottage is located in the heart of the Woodford lake community, just across the street from the lake. Plenty to see and do near this mountain retreat. We are a short walk to the beach or continue on to miles of hiking trails. In the winter nordic ski at Prospect Mt. (1 mile) or downhill ski at Mt. Snow (19 miles). Any time of year enjoy casual eating or fine dining in Wilmington, Bennington or use the grill and eat out on the deck. A bonus: Woodford State Park is just down the road. The space Chickadee Cottage is our family vacation home and we are excited to share it with you. Come connect with family and friends in this intimate space that features an open floor plan. High ceilings and a sloped roof give the space a big airy feeling. This is one of the reasons we fell in love with the cottage. The living room, dining area and kitchen are interconnected. The second floor loft overlooks the living room. The first bedroom is located downstairs and has a double bed as well as a twin bed. The upstairs loft has a full size bed and a queen separated by a short bookcase. The ceiling fan helps to keep the heat downstairs in the winter and cools the entire space in the summer. The mountain air in Woodford is typically 10 to 20 degrees cooler than lower elevations. It is picture perfect weather when it is sweltering heat in other places. It is also one of the reasons we get so much snow in the winter! The Roku tv, and dvd player offer you a choice of entertainment. A selection of board games provide an opportunity to put away the electronic devices and reconnect, the old fashioned way. No worries we have internet too😀 Enjoy the bright sunroom in all seasons. This new space has oversized windows and high ceilings. There is an owners closet and loft located in this space. A gas fireplace is operated with an easy to use thermostat and provides a warm, cozy atmosphere on chilly nights. A ceiling fan cools down the room on warmer days. This is one of my favorite places to read, look across to the lake or hang out with family and friends. New for the 2025 season, privacy shades in this space. The deck provides an area to enjoy a meal outdoors and a view of the lake which is just across the street, there is a grill and enough adirondack chairs for the whole family. The grill and outdoor shower are put away in the winter months. This property is a two minute walk to the beach. Take the beach chairs sit in the sand and take a swim. The lake warms up quickly in the summer. We love this spot in Woodford and know our guests will too. Guest access The entire house is yours to use with the exception of the owners closet and storage loft located in the sunroom. Other things to note Prospect Mountain is one mile down the road. There are miles of groomed trails for all levels of cross country skiing. Rentals and lessons available too. Mt. Snow is our local downhill ski spot. The lake freezes over in the winter making a beautiful winter wonderland. We have a plow service but be prepared to shovel the short path to the driveway if it snows during your visit. Front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle recommended. Getting up route 9 in a storm can be tricky. Enjoy winter all the way through March!
